Watch out

Funny, but every Vet I've ever met is a staunch conservative. Seriously.
Is it because of an oath we took?
Is it because we believe in a flag that was bought and paid for in American blood?
Is it because we believe in Brotherhood?
Is it because we believe in democracy?
Is it because we believe in Mom and Apple Pie?
Is it because we believe in the American way?
Is it because we believe that all of the above will prevail?
Watch out, Obama.

  2. I am not a vet, however my Dad was a Marine until the day he died, just six months shy of his 80th birthday. My son is a two-deployment veteran of the sandbox.
That said, I believe in that oath, and the republic that it swears to protect.
I'll stand with you, my friend.

  4. I'm not yet a vet, since I've only got 19 years in, but I agree with the terms of the list.

  5. At the risk of sounding too conservative, it is my belief that any citizen who wants to run for public office MUST be a veteran of our armed forces. This is not to say that there are no good non veterans, but, most people who think they are too good or important to serve are not the type I would like to see in a position of power. The odds are definately in our favor when it comes to electing someone who would put the USA first, their party 2nd. and themself last.
If this requirement were codified, anyone who would like a political career would know in advance they would have to serve. We must also remember when the founding fathers established our republic they felt a man should serve in public office and then return to his farm or whatever business he had.
They treated public office as an honor and priviledge and thought of themselves as public servants, not masters.

  6. Bless each and every one of you.
Paul, I agree. Anybody that wants to be Commander in Chief should have some idea about what the job entails.
I'm more qualified (as a E-4 over 3) than that fuckhead Obama.

  7. Both of my grandpas were WWII vets (both passed away), my uncle and dad are Viet Nam vets (pops passed September '09), I excelled in J.R.O.T.C., signed up in the beginning of the first Gulf war, aced the ASVAB but couldn't quite pass the physical (heart problems). Coming from a military family I have nothing but respect and gratitude for our men and women in uniform and let me be the first to say Wirecutter, thank you for all that you and your brothers and sister-in-arms have done for this great country of ours. Do plenty of fishin' and drinkin' this weekend, you've damn well earned it.
