Now I'm pissed

SAN FRANCISCO – A federal judge overturned California's gay-marriage ban Wednesday in a landmark case that could eventually force the U.S. Supreme Court to confront the question of whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to wed.

Okay, check this shit out.
I could really give a flying fuck less about this issue. Seriously. It does not affect me one way or another.
I can understand some of the issues that gay couples present, and I can understand some of the issues that opponents present.
But what pisses me off about this issue is that it was decided by the VOTERS, the CITIZENS of Kalifornia, and then some motherfucker in a black robe decided that they were wrong.
It was the PEOPLE that made the law.
So much for your vote counting, right?

  1. Why are you pissed? The system did exactly what it was supposed to do. I'm surprised that, as someone who has a lot of respect for the US Constitution, you would get mad at it being upheld. Doesn't the Constitution exist not only to protect us from the government, but to protect us from making bad laws? Just because a majority of the people who voted last June in CA (Clearly not a majority of the population of CA) for something, does not make it right nor does it automatically make it constitutional. The proper way for this issue to have been addressed would have been for the supporters of prop 8 to first amend the US constitution. Prop 8 is clearly discriminatory and violates the US constitution as it presently stands. If the yes on Prop 8 folks can't come up with any better defense than 'my religion says gays shouldn't marry', then I predict that this will have the same outcome when it reaches the Supreme Court.

  2. If racists voted to make it legal to buy black people would that make it ok? How many would you buy?

If liberals voted to take the right to bear arms away from you - would that make it ok?
Would you turn in your guns?

Why does a decision by a large group of people make it ok to do something wrong?

If perverts voted to make raping a 12 year old girl legal - would it be right? Would you wear a rubber?

Tough questions in a tough world.

You know from my blog that I support gay marriage. I don't think it's right to say "...you can't because you're...blank..."

Less government in my business - less business in my government.

  3. Okay, be advised that I will delete all hateful comments towards gays.
I don't understand the gay lifestyle, I don't understand the sexual attraction towards same sex, but that doesn't mean that I believe that it's evil or wicked and it sure doesn't mean that gays don't have feelings.
You heard my opinion. It wasn't directed towards gays, it was directed towards the judge that overturned the people's will.
    Keep your comments civil, please.

  5. It's always so helpful when the courts step in and resolve a contentious social issue. After all, if the Supreme Court hadn't "found" a Constitutional right to abortion 37 years ago in Roe v. Wade, abortion might still be a divisive issue in American politics. Ahem.

  11. Do you ever wonder how our Founding Fathers would have viewed the social issues we face today? For as smart as they were, even they couldn't have forseen this shit...
