Hey, we're talking three and a half bucks here!

SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a San Antonio Taco Bell customer enraged that the seven burritos he ordered had gone up in price fired an air gun at an employee and later fired an assault rifle at officers before barricading himself into a hotel room.
San Antonio police Sgt. Chris Benavides says officers used tear gas Sunday night to force the man from the hotel room after a three-hour standoff. The man is charged with three counts of attempted capital murder. Authorities have not released his name.
Brian Tillerson, a manager at the Taco Bell/KFC restaurant, told the San Antonio Express-News that the man was angry the Beefy Crunch Burrito had gone from 99 cents to $1.49 each.

  1. “The weird thing is,” Tillerson said, “He was here a week ago around the same time last Sunday. He yelled at me then too.”

Okay, if you're just angry about it suddenly, it's one thing, but after you've already been told, you shouldn't do anything more than grunt.

Willing to bet that this was the final straw for the guy, if we do get his backstory he'll have been out of work for ages, broke, doing day labor to keep food in his mouth, etc. etc... Doesn't give him the right to do this, but it'll go a long way to explaining why. I expect a lot more of this type of thing as people get more desperate and despondent over their situations.

  2. Wow, that's a huge fucking increase.. no wonder he was pissed. I don't blame him. I have spent most of my money on .223 ammo and I do not have anything left for burritos and shit like that.

  4. I posted this, too. My story was better, though, because the reporter called the rifle a "semiautomatic assault rifle."

    Yep, that's right.
