You're not so tough, big boy.

  1. You having a "soft spot in the heart" moment towards your demon cats? I mean, nothing wrong with that. Go with it!

  2. Cats can be okay -- we had a big old tomcat who adopted us when I was a teenager. "Clarence" looked like a gray tiger, but he was blind in one eye, missing most of one ear, grumbled every step he took (arthritis?). And about once a month or so he'd take off for a couple of days, then come back all scratched and beat up... and with the biggest shit-eating grin you'd ever see. Figured he'd had a couple of good fights and got laid, so all was right with the world!

But he was pretty cool... Dad taught him to sit up and beg, and he just adored having his belly rubbed. But the topper was when some neighborhood kid shot him between the eyes with a pellet gun. Mom held Clarence, and armed with tweezers and bottle of hydrogen peroxide, Dad dug the pellet out. Clarence never moved, never even flinched -- and when Dad was done and Mom let go of him, the first thing Clarence did was go back to Dad and rub all around his legs while cranking out some of the loudest purrs I've every heard.

    Good memories...
