Wolf dogs

So is there another motherfucker out there that owns a dog with any wolf (any at all) in it?
I'm just curious because I know that I have several readers from Alaska and Canada as well as several dozen from the northern States and they're heavy on hybrids, or so I'm told.
When I got CGD, I was on my own. I had no help from anybody and it was definitely a learning experience and I still could use a little help from somebody that's been through this shit him/herself.

  1. If it's any help, my Dingo or asian wolf dog is a mean mfkr if provoked. Scientific name "canis lupus". Dingo came from "Tingo". Used by Abboriginal people way back when as a camp dog.Not a very well liked dod in austrailia because the tear up livestock.Roscoe eats anything.chicken bones, kinneling wood, chili peppers, fences ,gates, and is one territorial sumbitch. bures holes to lay where its cool.

  3. he used to tear up everything in sight. but he's really mellowed the last couple years. It's bad ass when he hears something he dont like. his hair on his back stands straight up. cant let em run around out front at all. he's terrorized many innocent dog walkers. been called a fuckin asshole because of roscoe many a time.

  4. I've got a dog that is part terrier, part coyote. Weird little shit with long hair. Yeah, hair... not fur.

Mofo dammed near killed my wife's pit bull when it was 6 months old. She hates pit bulls with a passion for some weird reason.

As far as the wolf thing... fuck if I know.

  6. Wolf/dog mixes are a bad idea.
You've lucked out with CGD. Most mixes end up going bad in a big way.
Just can't get over that "Am I a big bad wolf or a loyal obedient dog?" question.
Sort of like Obama's "Am I a radical white Marxist like Mom or a radical black Socialist like Dad?"
    Really confuses the poor dude.

  7. Stretch, I gotta agree with you. CGD is the only hybrid I've ever heard of that completely submits to a human. But he's only 1/4 wolf and he is a fucking handfull. I have to seriously dominate him every minute I'm with him or he'll get out of hand.

  8. Wirecutter,
Even after havin his nuts cut, how long has it been now, 6 months? That's about how long it takes his testosterJEROME levels to start comin down. The inate sqirelleyness will never go out of a strong dog though. My 8 yo neutered BIG BEAGLE will search and destroy...Escape forom STALAG 13 to get to a critter!

  9. Just stay with him if you love him. You will see the connection in his eyes and demeanor if he defers to you as his master. It takes time(sometimes years, and then they die once you get them straight, ungrateful bastards,) and lots of yard maintenance to keep the beast contained and YOU out of trouble payin fines to the court...Kinda like your wife, was it more trouble to keep her or get rid of her?...

  11. I have a malamute wolf hybrid that is about 65 pounds named Stella. She used to be over 70 pounds but she has hip displaysia so she has slowed down a lot. She is actually a runt because both of her parents were over 100 pounds. She is the best dog I have ever been around. I stopped putting her on a leash when she was 1 because she never leaves my side unless I tell her she can or if she sees an animal she will go after it but if I whistle she comes right back. I had a bit of trouble with her till she was 1 but I really worked hard to make her submissive. She is really skittish around people until she gets to know them really well. She couldn't give two shits about other dogs though. She just ignores them unless they bother her. She is very pack oriented and very defensive of me and our house. She likes to hunt and kills birds fairly often 2 skunks and something else that I think was a cat but there wasn't enough left to be sure. Biggest thing that helped with her was making sure she knew I was in charge. If she disobeyed badly I would put her on her back and hold her there until she was calm and would lay there without me holding her. It may sound goofy but check out the stuff the dog whispered guy Cedar Milan does. He really does a lot that helps show the dog that you are the leader. Definitely worth looking at his first book has a lot of good stuff in it. Ha I will be out in California close to you in a few days. Going to be in Avery for my little brothers wedding. It's close to Murphy's Angels Camp and Bear Valley ski resort.

  12. Stretch I have to disagree with you my girl is about 50 or 60 percent wolf and she completely submits. I know of two other guys in my town that have hybrids that are very good dogs. They are way more active than my girl though. More destructive. She isn't reallydestructive at all any more. She was bad when she was a pup though.
