Canada makes an effort to stop baby dumping

In Spain up until around the middle of the 20th century a mother that didn't want to be burdened with a baby would simply take it to the nearest convent (one in damned near every town in Spain, as you might imagine) and drop it off there. There was even a Lazy Susan device called a "torno" that allowed you to drop the baby off while remaining anonymous.
