Who's responsible for this outrage?

  1. Damn Wirecutter,
'bout enough to bring tears to my eyes.

I used to shoot all my own pig down in Arizona when I was a lot younger with a body that was not an orthopedic wrecking yard, sigh...

This is a true crime and I am sure this is a liberal plot since they say bacon is sooo badddd for us and we all know who the food nazis are in this country.

Must by the mussies are in cahoots with the libtards on this as well simply because we know how much those mohammadans hate pigs and pork.

What can we expect but this type
of criminal pricing when such nefarious, corrupt and hateful idiots have such an evil, nasty agenda and perverted ideology.

  3. That $.79 in 1962 equates to $5.91 in 2011 when adjusted for inflation. There's an inflation calculator at http://www.minneapolisfed.org/ that comes in real handy for stuff like this.

  4. Don't care, Scott. Bacon allotments should be in our Bill of Rights.

  5. It's worse than that Scott. In 1962 dimes and quarters were still 90% ACTUAL SILVER (not the nickle plated copper slugs we have today).

Checking the value of the silver content of a 1962 (or earlier) dime over at http://www.coinflation.com/ we find that it runs to about $2.3025 in our currently (and continually) devalued FRN's.

Multiply that by 7.9 and you arrive at a true cost of almost $18.20/lb for that bacon. So in actuality, bacon today casts less than 25% of what it did in the early 60's.

The sad part is when you do the same conversions for wages.

  6. Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. I just wanted to cheer people up regarding the state of bacon by pointing out that prices are actually getting better.

  7. The price be damned.

BACON - mmmmmm goooood. Fat, meat, salt, smoke, nitrites or whatever to preserve it, it all spells delicious.

    All the best,
