Brainwashing works. Sometimes.

As many as 100 high school students walked out of a national journalism conference after an anti-bullying speaker began cursing, attacked the Bible and reportedly called those who refused to listen to his rant “pansy assed.”
The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”
Savage, and his husband, were also guests at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception. He was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference.

It's nice to see that there were young men and women of principle that stood up and walked out for their beliefs.
It was also shocking to hear the amount of support for this cocksucker from the indoctrinated kids that stayed.

  1. Ya know, Dan Savage occasionally makes some good points and has some good advice. But he really needs to let go of his anti-Christian bigotry.

Yes, Dan, some assholes may have abused you in the name of our Lord, but two wrongs don't make a right. In abusing those kids who walked out, you became exactly what you hate.

    Bravo. :(

  2. I'm a fan of Dan Savage, despite his far-left politics. I would let my high-school age kids listen, but I don't think he is an appropriate speaker for a general high school audience. His sex and relationship advice is usually very good, and he's called himself a cocksucker.

Other than using profanity, where is he wrong in what he says--It is OK to ignore the bible on adultery or slavery, but not homosexuality? It is OK to bash fags, but not OK to stone women who have premarital sex?

  3. I don't know of a single Christian that bashes homosexuals and I've attended some very fundamental churches. Bash the sin, yes. The sinner, no. And it's the same thing with extra-maritial affairs. Hate the sin, love the sinner.
Of course there are "churches" that spread hatred in God's name, Westboro Baptist being the most famous. Don't think there are many christians in that church, though.

  5. Listening to him, I'm reminded that Christianity is responsible for him having a platform to speak out from safely. If those kids who walked out were Muslim, than Savage would be on fire by now. Had he been raised in China, North Korea or anywhere in the Middle East where there is no Christian influence, he'd have been killed long before he was able to complain about bullying. I get that he has his reasons for not liking Christianity, but here he is, using his position to impose his views and desires on people who had no choice in whether or not to attend. He's a bully.

  6. Also, strange that cocksucker is used correctly as a noun here, as it's his label for himself.
