What? New Yorkers can only own 7 clips? Why, that's outrageous!

“To basically eradicate assault weapons from our streets in New York as quickly as possible is something the people of this state want and it’s an important thing to do. It is an emergency,” Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver told CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
Sources told Kramer the deal worked out by the Legislature is wide ranging, but it starts with assault weapons.
“We are going to ban assault weapons. We are going to eliminate all of the loopholes that existed previously,” Silver said.
The new state legislation will:
* Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10
* Force gun owners to renew their licenses every five years
* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime
* Stiffen penalties for bringing a gun on school property
* New restrictions on the assault weapons already owned by New Yorkers
“They will be basically not permitted to be transferred. They will be grandfathered in but not in terms of a transfer. There will be a registry,” Silver said.

  2. I think 7 clips for my M44 will do and since there are no restrictions on mags I can have countless hundreds a piece for my Glocks 21 and 30 as well as the same for my Saiga 12 and Bulgarian AK, right......?:)

  5. Laws like we have here in South AFrica, but this makes no difference to the criminals, you can just go to one of the local black townships and obtain for about $10 an AK-47 (which btw is totally illegal here... as is any other automatic). These laws only make it difficult for us lawful gun owners (bureaucratic inflation)

  6. From what I understood, they will be limiting the capacity of magazines to 7.

  7. I don't give a rats patootie about any European Country. We left there and "Ran those misfits out of our Country" long ago. Americans decried the existing Government's heavy hand and freedom won. You know, we could all go to Amsterdam, get high and do hookers all day... That's real progress there, buddy. But wait, the left is pushing us that way too!
This is America. Look around. We don't want to be European. Made that VERY clear a couple hundred years ago.
Our Constitution and Bill of Rights sets us apart from every country on the planet. Weapons in the hands of the Citizenry will keep it free. The weapons are now in our hands, and we WILL keep it free.
Every official that swore to defend and uphold the Constitution should be screaming right now. The Founding Fathers are, and just now I'd be ashamed to look any one of them in the face. They paid with life and property to win our freedom. They enscribed the GOD GIVEN rights in the Bill of rights for all to see for all time.
So MR. Dutchman, GO HOME. You're not needed here, nor are you wanted....

  9. Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10.

Has nothing to do with the number of magazines,

They're talkin the capacity of a magazine. 7 Rounds instead of the current 10 round capacity.

  11. They've outlawed Garands, with their 8rnd clips.

    That's just wrong.

  12. Tell them that M-1 Garand clips were designated mags back then and are exempt, not that they would know the difference.:)
