"But they're such magnificent creatures!"

PACIFICA, Calif. (KRON) – A mountain lion is roaming the streets of a neighborhood in Pacifica, California. The big cat was caught on video as it watched two kids who were riding bikes in the street over the weekend.

*****

Yeah well, when you outlaw hunting them, they lose all fear of man and tend to overpopulate when they're the top predator in the food chain.

  1. What idiots. That last line...
"Some neighbors say they don’t want the mountain lion trapped, taken away, or euthanized. Instead, they hope that this mountain lion stays away from the kids and pets in the neighborhood."

    1. They HOPE?????? Radicals at their WORST why don't they try to reason with the hungry critter? That would do about as much good as hoping.

That's like hoping a kid won't eat the candy...

Ah, the leftist belief that 'hope' will make things better without actually requiring effort or anything else that makes them feel uncomfortable. I'm sure they'd be the same ones who would blame everyone the first time it took a swipe at a kid or hauled off their pet.

  4. That will end well. San Andreas needs to finally let go.

  6. Tough decision, do I root for the cat or the liberals?
I can see the next headlines, Pacifica residents report neighborhood mountain lion seen frantically licking it's ass. The mayor could not be located for comments.....

    1. I disagree. The decision is not difficult for me. I mean, I don't want to see anything happen to the children that are too immature to realize that their parents are stupid fucks, and that cat WILL eat or shred them if hungry or provoked (cats often interpret human behavior as provocation, even if not intended), but beyond that...
Take away man's weapons, he IS NOT the apex predator in the Rockies, nor in most other places.

    3. Man's intellect, inventive mind, and willpower are his true weapons. We *are* the apex predators of this planet, even naked in a wilderness. We will *make* weapons and tools and clothing and shelter from the flesh and bones of our enemies and our prey.

Sure, not every one of us, but enough.

  7. The City Coumcil of Pacifica has announced thay henceforth all mountains will be registered as Democrats, given absentee ballots and instructed on which paw to imprint. Makes sense, EH?

  8. Do they eat hogs? If they can be taught to kill / eat hogs they might be useful to me.

    1. Probably Piglets an adult would be to big for them to tackle. One squeal from a piglet And you have a pissed off sow to deal with. If the cat would stick around for a while it would be fun to watch.

    2. Don't know where you are, so I can't answer that. Here in South Texas we have mountain lion, and their cousin black panthers. I knew a guy who hunted the big cats that to be a threat to people or wildlife. The guy worked as a contractor for Fish and game. He taught me all about the big cats. They normally eat only white tail deer. They don't mess with hogs or other animals when everything is normal. Summer kills are about one deer every three days. After that the meat is spoiling unless the big cat co-op has some solar powered refrigeration. During the winter a killed deer may last a week before the cat kills again. If a land owner starts seeing lots of dead deer that have just been "tasted", they can call fish and game and the hunter will go out and try to kill the big cat.

  9. All good people should welcome Mountain Lions with open arms. They bring wise and rooted customs and folkways that are much more spiritual and obviously superior to our own sexist, ageist, humanocentric culture. Also, cool little ethnic restaurants!

Mountain Lions only want the chance for a better life for themselves and their children. There is no such thing as an illegal Lion. How can one of Mother Gaia's children be "illegal"?

At this point time California has not yet learned to be multi-species. We're going to be part of the throes of that transformation which MUST take place. California is not going to be the monolithic wh... uh, um, society it was once in the last century. Pacificans are going to be at the center of that huge transformation for California to make; they are now going into a multi-species mode. And Pacificans are going to be resented because of their leading role. But without that leading role, and without that transformation, California will not survive.

    1. One spiritually evolved Californian pronounced on NextDoor that he would be "proud to be eaten by a mountain lion."

  10. Read the book Beast in The Garden, about when mountain lions came to Boulder, CO. The hippies loved the mountain lions, which had followed the deer down into town. At least they loved them until pets, then people started being eaten.

  11. Maybe the Liberals should start a focus group with the mountain lions to try and reason with them...

  12. Years ago my brother, who lives in the black mining hills of Dakota, told me he exited his house for his evening walk just after sundown one night. He shined his flashlight around the yard for good measure when he spotted a mountain lion in a tree at the edge of his lot. I said OMG. I hope don't let your boy go out to play after dark. he said "Only if he's been bad."

  13. A healthy cougar may avoid humans.

An old cat, an injured cat, sick or arthritic cat, a juvenile inexperienced cat -- all may be starving.
Or, like humans, some cougars are mean twisted psycho sadists.
Any of these can develop into unpleasant interactions.
