Democracy’s Logic Demands a Nomination and a Vote

Nominating to fill the Supreme Court vacancy now, but deferring confirmation until after the election—especially if the nominee were to be subjected to hearings in the meantime—would further advertise the Republican Party’s unseriousness and likely contribute to President Trump’s defeat in November. Highly qualified nominees would be reluctant to lend themselves to such a fraught game.

  1. Trump is still the President until 1/21/2021. Nothing else matters. Skipping the hearings is also a good idea. That's where most of the noise and delays were last time. Can't trust Mitch when it comes to tradition and procedure, though.

  2. The Supreme Court's duty as defined in the constitution is to "interpret" the law, not make it. But that went out the window decades ago. Besides, The supreme court decisions only matter if people obey the law. So the elites only care what will happen now because they see it as a muscle-flexing power-play 2020 election option.

  3. Trump said he's going to announce a nominee Saturday.
Apex Predator McConnell should schedule 3 days of hearings starting Monday. That will give the Dems plenty of time to go batshit crazy on TV, with Klamydia having an opportunity to remind everyone how repulsive she is.
Have a full floor vote on Thursday, with a swearing in ceremony on Friday.
After a weekend of gnashing of teeth and hysterical screeching we can return to the usual fear mongering the following week.

  4. When all the protesters have gathered to protest the yet unnamed nominee, Ms. McEnany should announce "Due to unforeseen circumstances the nomination will be delayed until Sunday, or maybe later next week. No questions at this time." Keep 'em guessing!

    1. The announcement is scheduled for 5PM EDT Saturday. Trump should have a nice breakfast with Melania then venture out onto the lawn and announce his choice by around 10:15AM or so, then go golfing for the rest of the day while Melania goes shopping for some new duds. The dipshit media will probably show up at 4:30 in time to start heckling an empty podium.

  6. The republicans do the nomination and vote in the new justice a week ahead of the election. The dem's start their berserk antics. That gives Trump cause to put troops in place all over the country so they are ready on election day.

  7. It's going to be interesting to see how low the Demonrats will stoop while interviewing the nominee, whoever it is. I wonder, if it's a woman, which President Trump has said is likely, if they'll drag out some limp dick soi boy who will SWEAR, before God and everybody, that she participated in a 50 man gang bang when in kindergarten.

No no no no no, that EMPOWERS women according to the Marxists and the pornographers.

And don't anyone even THINK of noticing any commonalities between Marxists and pornographers.

  8. This election is most likely going to be decided by this very court.
4-4 is not a decision, it will throw the election into the House of Reps.
    Aunty Pelosi gets to decide.

    This is bad.

    1. No, the election will be an overwhelming Trump win, both is raw numbers and electoral votes. The only valid votes will be the ones allowed by law just before the election. All the phoney ballots will be garbage. And no one will be able to dispute the outcome.

  9. Let's be honest, if we had a Republican president in 2016 and the Demoncratic senate blocked the nomination "for the next president", we would be pretty ticked that they have different view now.

And to that, I say F*CK 'EM! Welcome to the big leagues. Those *ssh*les lie, cheat, and steal all they want. F*CK 'EM!

What was it that Obama said, "We won. You lost. Get over it."

  11. Just nominate Ruth Baader-Meinhof, but announce that Clarence Thomas will be casting her proxy votes.
