For the Sake of the Constitution, and the Country, Fill Ginsburg’s Seat Quickly

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday at the age of 87. Her passing was not unexpected. On the contrary, her steadily worsening condition over the past several years left her increasingly incapacitated. After Donald Trump’s election in 2016, many on the Left expressed dismay that she chose to stay on the court rather than resign and let President Obama nominate her replacement.

  1. Pretty rich how Pelosi and Schumer are threatening impeachment (again) this time just for following what the Constitution mandates!
Sounds to me like that Coney woman with the 7 kids is a great pick. Let the dems try to take her down!

  2. There will be a big fight if Amy Coney Barrett is nominated. I like how Barrett flipped off Diane Feinstein in the past, but she is highly corporatist, and can be counted on to take the side of corporations over actual human beings. On the plus side, Barrett did NOT go to Harvard or Yale law schools (went to Notre Dame), but she did do the traditional route of clerking for a Supreme Court Justice, namely Scalia. (It's a little too establishment for me.) That makes Barrett tricky to figure out, because people now think she has a judicial philosophy like Scalia because she once worked for him. This may not be the case at all. I suspect Barrett is of the establishment Republican class (think old money/corporate Bush types). She'd be better than a lot of people, but she is not a friend of liberty. Her decision on recent quarantine cases (she supported locking people down) is an example of this. Barrett is also apparently on record as saying that her conscience requires her to adhere to the decrees of The Church. Which is particularly a problem right now seeing as that abomination Bergoglio is squatting in the Vatican.

Trump needs to get someone acceptable (not necessarily perfect) onto the Supremes as soon as possible. It is highly likely that Dem election fraud will result in a disputed election. Having only 8 Justices would be a problem there since it's probable things will end up at the Supreme Court, and Roberts can't be counted upon. (Speaking of no-friend-of-liberty and Bush-ites.) If Trump wins again, it's likely he will get to nominate at least one more SC justice, so it's not crucial to get a bedrock conservative with this nomination; he just needs someone reasonable.

Barbara Lagoa would be a politically astute choice. Lagoa is female, Latina, and from Florida, the child of immigrants from Cuba. I want to see the Democrats try to take down a woman of color who is the child of immigrants. She's a grad of Columbia Law, which is a bad sign, but again, at least it's not Harvard or Yale. My main concern is that Lagoa is not on the record one way or the other about 2A issues. Another benefit of Lagoa is that Florida is a important state viz the Electoral College, and anything to shore up support there is a bonus.

    1. Geez. I have no idea why I was writing "Coney Barrett" instead of the proper "Barrett Coney". Must have been having a TIA at the time. Sorry.

  3. Mike, I agree, I was thinking Lagoa as well. Coney seems fine on the outside but pull back the curtain and we could have another Justice Roberts on our hands. As far as choosing someone, POTUS is well within his duty to do so, so where does dumbass Pelosi figure it is against the law to do your duty? Shouldn't it be against the law for her to keep breathing? If on the off chance and in a alternate reality that "If you ain't black, the thing, you know what I mean" wins, he can always do away with the appointment if not confirmed before he takes office. The real issue is the demon crats just want to continue to stir up shit and at this point, I think it is their sole purpose in life right now.

Don't you know that, pursuant to longstanding tradition, every other GOP nominated Justice has to be a stealth (and often no so stealth) collectivist?

  4. If the court is going to be expanded and/or, the EC abolished, then it's time for term limits on the Supremes or have a retention vote for each justice every 6 years, with only American born citizens allowed to vote.

  5. Lord knows, I had no use for Ginsberg and Obama but it was pure arrogance and selfishness to not retire while Ears was President. Obviously she thought more of herself than The Cause.

    1. I hope Thomas takes the hint and bows out halfway through The Donald's second term.
