How Trump Impeachment ‘Knocked Gun Control in the Head’

A little-noticed casualty of Democrats’ impeachment push against President Donald Trump last year was gun control, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., says.

In an interview for my book “Abuse of Power: Inside the Three-Year Campaign to Impeach Donald Trump,” Massie noted that the president was ready to pull the trigger on a federal law allowing orders to disallow possession of a gun because of extreme risk, commonly known as a “red flag law.”

  1. Since that time I believe Trump has discovered that you don't DO deals with the dems. They lie, cheat and steal. If Trump had proposed the red-flag law half his base would have walked and the commie dems would be laughing their asses off at tricking Trump.

People who generally need to be red-flagged own illegal weapons, or weapons not registered in their name. Anyone who wants a gun bad enough and has money to pay for one or more can buy just about anything. Trump is a NY Yankee and doesn't come from a gun and hunting culture like a large segment of his base does. He needs to walk carefully around any more gun issues.

  2. Red flag laws are, on their face, in direct contravention to due process, especially in light of the the object of any hearing NOT being represented at the hearing. This is yet another SECRET COURT put in place to deprive people of their Constitutional rights.

On another note, I have read about a recent case in my state where anti-stalking laws were used to effect the same result, confiscation of a citizen's right to keep and bear arms. 'Course this case WASN'T reported on in the state's paper of record.

  4. "Red Flag Laws" are predicated on "Ex Parte". Ex Parte was NOT allowed under the Code of Hammurabi. circa 3750 B.C. why now? REGARDS, Skynet.
