The word 'Uncle' is racist? Who knew?

NEW YORK – The Uncle Ben's rice brand is getting a new name: Ben's Original.

Parent firm Mars Inc. unveiled the change Wednesday for the 70-year-old brand, the latest company to drop a logo criticized as a racial stereotype. Packaging with the new name will hit stores next year.

  1. Fuck 'em. I hope they starve. More PC bbboooooolllssshhhiiittt. I used to buy Uncle Ben's brand until I developed HBP. Too much salt in their products. If you have a discerning palate, you can almost duplicate the spices. I cook rice half white, 1/4 brown and 1/4 wild, those are proportions not cups. Because of their different cooking times you need to add them in succession starting with wild then brown then white about 10 min apart. A little onion powder, a little thyme, cumin, coriander, paprika, chili powder and 35 minute simmer; mmm, mmmm, mmmmm good.
