Two New U.S. States? The Case for Jefferson and Greater Idaho

The U.S. House of Representatives in June passed a bill in favor of statehood for the District of Columbia. In response, historian Nicole Hemmer wrote, “should Joe Biden win the presidency and bring with him majorities in the House and Senate, he should make statehood for D.C.—and for Puerto Rico—a priority for his first 100 days in office.” Also in June, The New Republic published an opinion column stating “D.C. Statehood Is a Test of Biden’s Political Courage.”

  1. Statehood for DC may require a Constitutional amendment.

    Article I Section 8, clause 17 says:

17: To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;—And"

Puerto Rico does not want statehood. They have a very favorable tax situation as it is whereby companies, particularly the pharmaceutical industry, invest heavily. Statehood would ruin that.

  2. DC should simply be split between Virginia and Maryland. Which side of the river you live on decides if you are a citizen of which state.

    1. Which part is on the Virginia side?

    2. No and hell no.
The reason DC was created was so that a single state did not have the federal capital.

    3. Screw that. Let Maryland grant citizenship to DC residents and leave it at that. Poof! They now can vote for representation. We don't need no mo freakin' leftists in Virginia. NOVA is blue enough as it is.

  3. Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution lays out the procedure for a new state formed from an existing state. The District of Columbia is not a state, neither is Puerto Rico. Democrats ignore why D.C. was created to begin with, to keep the national capital from being involved in state politics and to keep two additional senators and a number of representatives from being part of political turmoil. Plus, a state which held the national capital would see itself as more equal than other states. But, there is no reason to expect Democrats to know any history. The accession of northwestern Virginia counties is an example of presidential interference, but then it was the North-South war and Abraham Lincoln, and federal muskets ruled.

  4. The Constitution specifies a federal district', not larger than 10 square miles... as the seat of government. The land for that district came originally from Virginia (now, it's Arlington) and Maryland...

If the district is to no longer exist, then the land goes back to Maryland...

  5. I think the act that created Washington DC should simply be repealed and return the land to Maryland and Virginia, and start from there.

  7. Cut Puerto Rico loose. They have been a drain on the US for too long.

  8. If push comes to shove, it'll go to the Supreme Court and like with Obamacare Commie Roberts will rewrite the constitution.

  9. It will not happen with PR - not as long as the residents are being held up by the likes of Pfizer and PepsiCo, who pay no US taxes.

  10. Trying to apply logic and facts to counter the push for DC and 'Rican statehood is like trying to teach a weasel differential calculus. It's a complete waste of your time and it annoys the weasel which only wants to kill kill kill. The only possible answer is "No. Now fuck off, or I will hurt you bad."

As to Jefferson and Greater Idaho, those are hardly the only regions that want out from under the urban elites and scum (but I repeat myself). Much of NY state wants out from under NYFC. Here in Massachusetts you could split the state by what is inside/outside the 495 beltway and people on both sides would be happier to not be sharing their state with "those assholes". (Maybe even by the more restrictive 128 highway.) You could call the new states Free(ish) Massachusetts and Massholia. Sadly, parts of southern NH are now pretty much Massholia as well.

  11. All these so called Constitutional experts in the Demonrat party prove, once again, that they don't know shit from shinola about the Constitution and why it's written the way it is. Anything for power, it's the Demonrat way!

    This is stupid on steroids.

  13. Give Maryland and Virginia their land back and move seat of government westward, say to Iowa or Nebraska.

  15. Oh, DC, DC, what to do, what to do...

I say go back to control by the US Army, Military District of Washington, DC. And when I say military control, I mean MILITARY CONTROL, like at an Army base. Seriously, if every little crime was a friggin federal felony, and it was enforced as such, tried as such, punished as such, the damned city would finally clean up it's act.

And, yes, running over a bunch of filthy protestors with a cav troop of Bradleys is an option.

As to PR, fuck them. Fuck them with a rusty pipe. We should threaten to cut those freeloading assholes loose since they won't let the US Navy play shoot-shoot on an uninhabited island.

As to Free California, as long as whatever is created does not have Sacramento, SanFran, LA, and all the other liberal shitholes, maybe including San Diego, then that's a plan. But all the supposed plans I've seen all include one of the big cities as part of Free CA, which would just make Free CA under the control of liberal assholes.

Now, between WA, OR and ID, carve out the portions of WA and OR that aren't the big libtard cities and let them become one free WOID.

    Else, no.

Any division of a state that leaves the 'free' portion under the control of a liberal city population is going to be a mistake.

  16. I had to look up the historian Nicole Hemmer, she may be a "historian" by virtue of her degrees, but her bio reads and indicates she is nothing more than a left wing demo operative.

I think short of armed conflict to physically split the various states into Free and Commie areas, the only other solution would be to correct the voting districts, even if we have to go to court to force equal representation same as the minorities seek.
Of course we could hope that people could start getting educated and using facts & logic instead of feels for voting, but the war thing would probably be easier and faster.

  17. The Virginia side of the original DC was ceded back to Virginia before the Civil War.

    1. Exactly! The logical thing to do would be to carve out the area arround the Mall, and cede the rest to Maryland. There is nothing to lose there.. every other part of DC where people actually live is infested with liberals. DC is a city, and to give it the power of a state (two senators) is absurd, which is exactly why this solution would never be considered.

  18. I've been living with the "State of Jefferson" campaign most of my adult life here in Outback Oregon. It's been somewhat revived in recent years, with a lot of flags and fence posters on ranches.
I don't see the secessionist movement as any solution at all anymore. For just one example of why, consider that the NPR station for Southern Oregon and Northern California calls itself Jefferson Public Radio, based in the lefty looney town of Ashland. IJPR.org if you want to look it up.
No, the solution I want to see is that giant MOAB in the middle of liberalism called the Trumpocalypse. We can't isolate from lefty insanity, it must be destroyed absolutely.

    1. "We can't isolate from lefty insanity, it must be destroyed absolutely."

Given that there has been negative progress on that front since pretty much forever in this country, the odds of it happening on any time frame short of a geological epoch seems remote-at-best.

  19. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If the commies win there won't be anymore fair elections, whether there are two more states full of welfare rats or not. Kameltoe has already stated that when "they" take power (that's the commie way, just take) they are going to hunt down everyone who supported Trump. What do you suppose for? To give us hug?
Commies win or take power, America is toast. Or we all go to war and kill every commie on the planet.

  20. People.....people...DemonRats HATE the constitution and will tear at will through it and the GOP brethern just keep rolling over all the while making mild threats. I live in Oregon and would move to Jefferson/Greater Idaho yesterday if it comes to fruition.

  21. I know this is O/T; sorry. The American Revolution was fought, partly, with the cry of "No taxation without representation!". Reading the Constitution, maybe we should return to what the Founder's intended: NO REPRESENTATION WITHOUT TAXATION. Haven't paid any state income tax? No vote for governor or representatives at the State Capitol. Haven't paid Federal Income Tax? No vote for federal representatives; House, Senate, or Pres. Just, ya know, a suggestion...
