When is ammo coming back?

As we hurtle towards the end of 2020, there’s one question on the minds of every shooter: when is ammo coming back? With Vista Outdoor announcing a $1 Billion backlog, the answer is “not any time soon.”

In April, we first covered this topic, looking at the historic conditions that had created a shortage the likes of which we had never seen before. Now, it appears that we’ll have a Joe Biden Presidency, and control of the Senate is up for grabs, we can look at the question of when is ammo coming back with a little clearer vision. The first thing we have to look at are our normalization conditions.

  1. Fellahs....it's not coming back. They can't infringe on our rights to bear arms, even though they do try, but they sure as hell can infringe on our ammo supply. This is how the left is going to disarm us. If there's nothing to shoot, that AR/AK/BMG is just a big ass club. Which is the reason I've been buying up components whenever and where ever I can find them.

    1. Taking ammo is de facto infringement on the 2nd Amendment. Fuck Biden. And Kameltoe. As Vanderboegh said, Unconstitutional gun laws are null and void. Defy. Resist. Evade. Smuggle. If they make you a criminal, be the best you can be. Join the 3%. We are everywhere.

    2. So is the NFA, the GCA and any other legislation that requires you to either register your gun, file paperwork to buy a gun, prove that you've trained with a gun to buy a gun or carry a gun, the whole concealed permit bullshit.

So are laws against brass knuckles, switchblades, personal purchases of explosives, laws against a private citizen buying a fully loaded and operational armored car or tank or plane or boat or ship or or or or....

Any infringement upon the right to keep and bear arms is patently against the 2nd Amendment.

All of it. All anti-weapon laws, anti-carry laws, anti-can't-make-this-or-that laws.

      Every single one.

      The whole BATFE? Unconstitutional.

Extra taxes on any weapon? Unconstitutional.

Saying 'You don't neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed this'? Unconstitutional, and should be a perfect excuse to cap a round in said individual's ass or head.

    3. "Taking ammo is de facto infringement on the 2nd Amendment."

I agree with you in principle, but it doesn't really matter much as a practical matter.

  3. The time to buy ammo was after barry soetoro was elected, which we did between 2009 and 2011 or so. Haven't needed to buy any since.

  4. I have 15 battle packs of South African 7.62x51 and 3 900rd cans of Radway Green 5.56x45 if anyone is interested in WV.
Face to face and cash sales only. "Going market pricing" donchaknow.

  5. Only thing I am shooting right now is deer rounds. Would like to pick up some though. Need to check some zeros from time to time.

  6. If they manage to steal the election, there will be no more ammo other than what will be available by 'other' means.

  7. Ya I have ammo, minus stuff I don’t really ‘need’ like 300 subs, but I am hesitant to shoot as much as I used to because I don’t like shooting what I can’t easily replace. What I buy now mostly goes straight into my range bag to actually shoot. If there isn’t any ammo in there, I don’t go shooting. I had decent luck with the academy near me, but you gotta be there when they open on a delivery day to get anything and I can’t actually do that very often. Mostly just shooting 22 now. Somehow misplaced 1000 rounds a while back in my garage and found it when I was cleaning it out so that was nice. Oddly enough, I’ve had a pretty easy time buying that.

    1. About half of them are in the hands of the enemy. We'll probably get to see those sooner rather than later.

  11. just purchased another 1000 rounds of 9mm, paid dearly, but my order was processed. I got enough to deal with any problems that may arise, but not enough t shoot / practice like I did.

  12. Everybody needs to save their brass, get with a friend that reloads and learn how to do it. We will get to the point where we're still be melting down tire balancing weightd to make bullets. In a revolution, currency isn't just money. . .

  13. Checked with my go to online ammo store last week. They had no stock of .556, 22LR, 9MM or .45ACP and didn't indicate when they might have any.

  14. The range that I go to sifts their berms every few months and will sell range lead by the pound. Not to bad, either. I *will not* give the name here, as I'm sure that violates some bullshit law about heavy metals. The conversation with the owner started when I just asked if he'd let me sift his berms. Range lead is great as it already has the correct amount of antimony and I don't know what else in the lead for proper ballistics and reduced barrel fouling. this guy will also sell me spent brass he and his wife pick up after hours.
Just saying you might want to check around, a polite question might lead to a great answer. And a $50 investment now might pay VERY large dividends in a few years. Face-to-face, cash only. You *can* buy lead through amazon, but (a)Um, no and (b)Fuck amazon.
Not leaving my name on this one, so to whatever fed is reading this, you need to do a little leg work to figure out who I am, and remember to check your drone footage to see what range I typically go to. After you've done that, go fuck yourself with a fence post tied to 100 yrds. of barbed wire. :)

  15. It ain't "shopping" any more. Today, it's a treasure hunt.

I scored some 168 grain Sierra HPBT's and some .308 Lapua brass last Friday. My week was complete.

Anybody see any IMR 4064 anywhere? Or maybe some Federal LR Match primers?

  16. Gun shop I know is still waiting on ammo ordered six months ago, and only getting partial shipments. If the left manages to steal the Georgia Senate election this won't end; if the Stupid Party manages to hold onto the Senate, it'll ease things somewhat. I think.

One thing that's just effing amazing is the number of people who've shown up or called the day before deer season opens looking for ammo. In this, of all years.

    1. Re: people looking for ammo at the start of the season...

This kid at work is going hunting, like... for the first time with his grandfather. And good for him. Deer hunting, I mean. But he's asking around for where to buy ammo online. So I asked him after suggesting he use the gunbot.net search for prices, calibers, and availability, "When are you going hunting?" and he says "On Saturday..." LOL! I would have laughed harder but I didn't want to embarrass the kid for waiting too late to try to buy ammo. His only saving grace might be that at least he's not trying to buy 30-06 or .223. He was looking for .243 winchester (?? a around I'm not familiar with because I don't hunt). I told him he should try the local walmart. There's no way you're going to get a couple of boxes shipped to you in a matter of days. "Smack my head."

  17. Have you come across any articles that come straight from manufactures themselves? And I don't mean people that reload and sell to the market. I don't know much about this, I know a lot is made by military contract? Is anyone able to comment on this or is it always out of our reach? Are there insiders posting about this?
