Let's take hanging sheetrock, for an example. Prior to that cheap labor a man could make a reasonable living doing that. Now it's not so. Sure, IF not for the lower labor costs, the house would cost more. But what is the Cost to Society for that Mirage of more affordable housing? What out of pocket costs exist for the American people who didn't buy that house? Paying for teachers, schools, and every aspect of the Social Safety net that the illegals have no right to. Check out the report done by Clowerd and Piven. Someone, IDK who, asked them to study what it would take to wreck a society. They concluded that Overloading the social safety nets would do it. Then, surprisingly, our elected representatives rather than make policies to avoid such a problem, it looks more like they used it as an operations manual to sink America. And the Anchor baby idea is a fraud, created by an intentional misreading of the constitution. A pertinent phrase is ignored.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,

The pregnant visitor is not subject to the laws of America in the sense that they are citizens. It's as ridiculous a concept as pretending that one is now Family should a pregnant stranger give birth in your living room. What makes you responsible for or in any way in a position to have jurisdiction over That baby?
Or its mother?

Justin_O_Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00861281459306259415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5183651835847025449.post-12440086710574185572010-07-17T15:14:32.326-05:002010-07-17T15:14:32.326-05:00I disagree with this letter to a small degree. Th...I disagree with this letter to a small degree. The statement is made several times about American citizens being willing to do work for a "decent wage." While this is true, if you raised the wage then the price of whatever they are doing would go up accordingly. Some products have artificially low prices due to using immigrant labor.

You have two ways to solve the problem. Either hire Americans for more money and have prices raise for whatever they are doing, or lower the minimum wage so that people willing to work for a lower wage (rather than be unemployed) are allowed to do so. I would argue for the second option. Illegal immigrants get paid under the table because it would be illegal for a citizen to take the same rates. Allow Americans to compete and we all benefit.

The problem is that a low end American worker doesn't provide any value to the employer that low end Illegal worker does other than know they are here legally. However if the American worker starts to be more productive at their job, then there is a reason to pay them more than lower class workers...

Does that make sense?Chiburbianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07810883627062426859noreply@blogger.com
