Shit, that was an everyday occurrance at the Safeway warehouse

They'd rack that water up on the top racks and leave it for days or weeks at a time. The weight of the top 4 layers of water would crush the bottom one and when they went to pull it out, it would just give way and come crashing down.
I never could understand why they just didn't store the water pallets only in the ground level racks. Too easy, I guess.

Because using common sense in some work places is against the rules. I worked in a warehouse where boxes of floor tile were racked up against 12 foot rolls of linoleum behind them. If the linoleum was pushed in with pole mounted forklift, a metric fuckton of tile came crashing down. Happened more than a few times - OSHA would have a cow !

  3. Sounds like they didn't pay much attention to the suggestions in the suggestion box at the warehouse.

    1. Hell, it was brought up at safety meetings constantly. It would've taken a serious injury for them to change the policy, and that be only after they found something to write the lift driver up for.
They tried having a suggestion box at work. It was filled with comments like "Eat a bag of dicks" and crap like that.

    2. Same thing happened at the big outfit I worked for. I think the box lasted about a month.
My suggestion would have been "You need to fire about half of your foremen".

  4. I absolutely hate operating those lifts, give me a forklift anytime but no thanks to those.
