EDEN, Texas (AP) — A West Texas man accused of fatally shooting two sheriff's deputies was angry they were in his yard trying to catch a dog and he told them he would open fire if they didn't leave, a witness said.
It's a difficult to discern facts from the article, but there were at least 4 people on his property, 2 deputies and 2 city employees. After being warned, law enforcement then attempted to accost him, and he shot them dead.
Texas has some intersting laws that may keep him from the death penalty. Including being able to kill a law enforcement officer if you are in fear of having great bodily harm. Research it. In the early days of police cars cameras an officer waa killed after telling a black man at a traffic stop that the officer was going mess him up permanently (I do not recall the exact verbiage). The judge dropped the charges based on the law during the evidentiary phase once the video and audio was heard.
