Santa Barbara Co. Sheriff's Office utilizing K-9 to seek out ghost guns

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says it's seeing an increase in the number of ghost guns during searches.

The gun might look similar to any regular weapon, however, it's missing one major piece: the registration to make it legally owned.

You probably have heard of K-9's trained for narcotics and search and rescue missions, but K-9 Zeke and his handler Deputy Shane Moore are trained in something different.

Zeke is the only K-9 in the tri-county area that can now sniff out weapons like ghost guns.

So it's trained to alert to steel and polymer, the very stuff vehicles are made out of, giving cops a reason to legally search every fucking vehicle they pull over for probable cause.

  1. Probably trained on nitrocellulose, effectively making it just a gun sniffing dog. Dogs are trained to sniff for party drugs, hard drugs, money, people, and guns; anything where money might be seized. If your item doesn't fall into those categories then you probably don't have to worry about dogs.

  3. "the registration to make it legally owned"

Someone should go read their own laws of they feel they're qualified to report on it. Oh yes, but truth or accuracy no longer have any value in modern 'journalism'.

  4. That is simply a variation of the dog trained to alert every time the police made a drug traffic stop. Karma gave an "alert" indicating the presence of drugs 100 percent of the time during roadside sniffs outside vehicles, which then gave the police "probable cause" to search the vehicle for anything else, which could then be confiscated & sold. Policing for profit.

  5. So the dog can tell the difference between a real pistol, a ghost gun, and the 3d figures of Betty Boop I made. Prove that in court pig.

  8. Great. A dog trained to alert if the wind blows in order to pad the cop's search warrant cred.
Zeke probably just wants to be an average dog and got stuck with this shit job.

  9. They will claim the dog can sniff out a gun, it might not be legal according to California's jacked up laws. Or it might be legal and properly registered according the Cali's laws. Either way, they will claim the dog alerted and tear your car apart. YOU will have to prove to Officer Friendly the gun is "legal".

  13. Don't confuse Peppermint with citrus.
Peppermint is a rodent repellant but citrus repel dogs.
Dogs can sense into parts per trillion and can literally sense a single eye-dropper dispensed drop of petrol in an entire freshly burned out warehouse.
Finding guns and ammo is comparatively effortless. Bury the prepper weapons in the bush somewhere...
