Now how sad is this?

The Clay County Sheriff's Office in Missouri said Tuesday that three people found dead in a home in July died from natural causes.

Investigators determined that Roger Wilfong was the caretaker for his mother and sister. They both had extensive health issues and could not move about the home without his assistance. An autopsy determined Roger Wilfong died from choking on food, most likely on June 21. Autopsy results showed Mary Wilfong and Virginia King died from undetermined causes. There was no evidence of foul play or drugs or alcohol, according to autopsy results.

  2. What a sad story. How many invalids would face the same result if they were in like situations? And all of this made worse by the isolation imposed by the gov stay at home mandates.

  4. This is a lot more common than people like to think. No social contact even without this pandemic shit going on. How bad off were they to SIT and die of thirst? Even with a multitude of conditions, I'd think someone would roll off a chair and TRY to find a phone?

  5. I had a friend who was quadriplegic due to an auto accident. He had very limited ability to feed himself and needed assistance just to go to the bathroom. (Think bedpan.) He had a 24/7 caretaker, but otherwise lived alone.

One night, his caretaker had a heart attack and died.

My friend was stuck in his bed for four days, and almost died before anyone came around to check on him. He was severely dehydrated and was lying in a bed contaminated by his own waste. It was horrible. (Never mind the 4 day old corpse that was in the same room.)

After that incident, a bunch of us got together and put together an alarm system for him that had to be reset every 12 hours or it automatically called his emergency care line. Those should be standard equipment for folks like that. (My friend died of his own cardiac arrest about 15 years ago.)
