Ah, the pains of lost gear. Hard to see what it is he dropped, either an armor pad or a book; possibly a sandwich.
I picked stuff all the time in the 03s. Squadleader's schedule book, a live 40MM grenade, OTIS cleaning kit, (issued) steel carabiner, an interceptor throat protector, SL3 for NVGs, magazines, etc. I even found a full seabag with SAPI's and gas mask on the wash racks; it was returned. I'm sure the boot was roasted since he was in his room (probably sleeping).
A lot of this stuff is very handy come gear turn for some back scratching. One higher was very happy to get that protector since he still had interceptor on the books.
It appeared to be a LEO hoofin' along to the scene of a mass shooting at a county corn hole competition. Looked like a sandwich, but are we sure it wasn't a Krispy Kreme Powdered Strawberry-filled sinker?
Thank the gods he got that sandwich back. It's not like a Claymore mine, or some other readily replaceable item that the guy could pick up at his local Dick's Sporting Goods. Oops, I forgot, Dick's is a dick. The guy would have to try and buy it on the street, or raid an unlocked FBI agents car.
