The Future

History is the guidepost to the future. Everything that happens has happened before and so, the study of history is what one does to interpret the present to be ready for the future. The ability to predict the future is of little use, because people don’t listen. No matter how accurately one predicts the future, or how loudly they speak, the ability to force others to act on that prediction is an impossible task. They retreat into what they can prove, what exists physically in front of them. Normally, that’s all right. It’d be nice to stop the worst from happening before it does, but that’s a leap of faith that most won’t take.

  1. While looking at the past to understand the present, it might be worth reading "Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland" by Christopher R. Browning.

The book documents how Germany took ordinary middle-aged police officers from Munich, psychologically conditioned them, put them in Poland "to keep the peace", and had them murder pregnant women in the streets. These men did not grow up under Nazi propaganda. They were not brainwashed from an early age to be murderous.

Given the current hysteria over the vax and covid, don't be too surprised if the fine, upstanding, moral officer of the peace you know today turns into a murderous law enforcement officer shooting your fellow citizens in the back of the head just because they haven't been vaxed, aren't wearing a mask, or aren't woke enough.

History repeats. We know where this story leads.

    1. Great point regarding your average police officer. Just look at how the Australian police are treating their citizens.

    2. Like to see the actual proof of this pregnant women killing. Maybe you should research just how the polish were treating the German civilians living there and you just might see just why the Germans had no choice but to go in and save their people. At least two sides to every story and the victors always get to write their version of history. Hybo

  2. While you are reading that, read also "Neighbors", by Jan T Gross, about how a government authorized hatred and the permission of the occupying Nazis allowed 1600 Jews, out of a towns' 3500 inhabitants, to be murdered over the course of a week.
The town had been equally divided between Jews and non-Jews for 300 years.

  3. If you want to understand where we're heading, just understand that AOC - of someone just like her, if not her - IS the future. Pelosi is actually a moderate fighting a rearguard action. Once the Millennials and Zoomers take power, it's going to get a lot nastier.

  4. Sometimes even fiction becomes reality. The Demonrats are using Animal Farm and 1984 as instructional manuals.
