Took my now 25 year old son to my Great Aunt Edith when he was about a week old. She was 86 and had quite a life story of hardship, abuse, and as she held him, all of that melted away. still have that picture . she died a few months later. They bonded for those last few months and she passed in her sleep and at her funeral had a smile on her face. Thanks for the reminder.
That is the most precious damn thing I've seen in a long, long time! Reminds me of my older son and my wife's grandmothers (One was 104, the other was 106 at the time. Yeah, she's gonna outlive me by 40 years...)
The ancient gesture of acceptance into the family and a blessing.
ReplyDeletePrecious moments for sure.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

ReplyDeleteTom...that's one of the sweetest stories I've ever heard. Bless your Aunt Edith.
