I could watch this over and over and over again

BLUE ASH, Ohio - An alleged rape and kidnapping suspect tried to flee officers by leaping through a glass window on the sixth floor of an Ohio hotel Sunday. But the reinforced glass didn’t give.

Body camera footage shows the suspect bouncing off the glass and landing on his feet. After being foiled by the window, the suspect can be heard saying "I’m about to jump."

  1. The perp, again, why no surprise. I did get a chuckle out of his demand not to taze him. Like he was in any position to make demands.

  2. Ahhh... Blue Ash, OH.
He'd have been better to spend the day at King's Island rather than raping and trying to head out a window.
The "bump" of he empty head bounding off the glass was most enjoyable.

  5. Cops should have 'weakened' the window and let him take another shot at it.

  6. did the police alter the bodycam recording to make the alleged rapist look like a person of colour black?

  7. With just a cursory investigation, it looks like a fall from 4 stories has a 50% survival rate. A fall from 7 stories has a 90% chance of death. If this idiot had made it through the window he would have probably died or at the very least been unable to do much more than moan and twitch until they got him to intensive care.

    1. My first thought was it was too bad the window held up. But if he had plunged to a Darwinian death, I'm sure the headline would be "cops force man out of window".

    2. Seriously, my first thought was, “6th floor? Fly, you motherfucker!”

    3. Not quite. The headline would be "racist white cops force oppressed Black man out of window". (Note proper use of lower-case "w" and upper-case "B". This is per the Associated Press style guide.)

As far as defenestration goes, there is always the hope that the oppressed man cuts a major artery on broken glass on his way out the window.

  8. Yes, it is true that stereotypes will result. But why take a chance. For your own safety, you have to assume the stereotype is actually true. Feel bad but stay alive.

  10. A note on mid-rise and high-rise glass makeup. 1" IGU insulated glass unit is quite the norm and "re-enforced" not accurate. The inner pane of more than 99% of such glass is plain monolithic (single layer) 1/4" tempered. Tempered glass is about 25x stronger than same thickness annealed raw glass therefore it can accept load and bending without shattering. The human body on impact can sometimes cause break but usually not. A human body is mostly soft and cannot gain the load needed to break the glass and human body simply bounces off. And that's just the inner pane in an IGU one would still have to break the outter pane. Not easy at all.

  11. "...the suspect can be heard saying "I’m about to jump."

My response would be "Then jump MF'er and save me some paperwork."

  12. The cops could have been nice and shot the window out for him. Accidentally of course.
