Senate Bill 50, authored by Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), would prohibit a law enforcement officer from stopping or detaining the operator of a motor vehicle or bicycle for a low-level infraction unless a separate, independent basis for a stop exists. The bill would authorize a law enforcement officer who does not have grounds to stop a vehicle or bicycle, but can determine the identity of the owner, to send a citation or warning letter to the owner.
According to SB 50, low-level infractions would include:
-Steve
It's hard to believe California voted Ronald Reagan as governor back in the 60s. WTF happened?
ReplyDeleteReagan banned open carry.
DeleteNo-fault divorce was probably worse, although his amnesty while president killed what was left of a nation.
DeleteI guess Reagan was scared of black people before it was cool...
DeleteLet me guess... seat belt violations aren't "low-level" in the minds of California legislators and uniformed critters whose minds long-ago missed the distinction between "Law Enforcement" and "Public Safety"
ReplyDeleteYee haw! This means if my truck doesn't pass emissions next go-around I don't have worry about it!
ReplyDeleteAnd they're not going to stop you for expired tags. Just saved a bunch on registration renewals, too.
DeleteNo but they can mail you a ticket. Then you will automatically be found guilty.
DeleteWith the down the road ramifications.
Senator Bradford says he wrote the bill over racial profiling concerns...yep.
ReplyDeleteHe could tell his homies to clean they act up, but nooo. Let's lower the bar some more.
A cop pulled me over for a burned out brake light, checked my paperwork, told me to get it fixed and sent me on my way. If not for the traffic stop, I never would have known there was a problem. The police use traffic stops to check for high level crime. They find DWIs, cars filled with drugs, drivers that have open warrants, etc. occasionally they even find cars that have the proceeds of burglaries or robberies, or cars that were stolen.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there are bad cops, they are in the minority, but the MSM makes you think every cop on the force is bad. Just cooperate with the stop, let the officer run your license, and most of the time, you’ll be on your way in a few minutes.
I've become allergic to regurgitated propaganda when I see (or hear) it.
Delete"The police use traffic stops to check for high level crime."
DeleteThey use them to generate something more than a penny-ante traffic stop, even if they have to stretch credibility to succeed. That's why I don't answer questions unrelated to the stop like, "Where are you going? Where have you been?, What have you had/Have you had/How much have you had to drink?" If the cop suspects me of something he can act on it by his lonesome, I'm not helping with his fishing expedition.
I thought police already were catch and release. Now they want no catch. So basically ;you will have police who are glorified welfare recipients and million dollar pensions after saving all their sick, personal, holidays, and vacation days.
ReplyDeleteLook out Broken Windows theory, here we come!
ReplyDeleteJeez, just cut to the damned chase. No blacks can be charged with any wrongdoing at any time. Whites must toe the line, to the letter, but anything darker than a paper bag gets a pass. It would really simplify matters if they would just come out and SAY it.
ReplyDeleteWe shouldn’t have to live like this. The subSaharan hominid bioweapons have a whole continent.
DeleteWe Whites have allowed our homelands to be completely overrun. When we finally do something about it, the whole world will tremble.
Sounds like they want to hand everything off to red light cameras.
ReplyDeleteRed light cameras were found unconstitutional even in CA.
DeleteYet this bill allows for the very same methodology (replace camera with live cop). I imagine appeals will jam up the courts.
Gee, wouldja look at that. Another bonehead politician sponsoring a prima facie unconstitutional bill.
Somebody's already high crime rate is about to go into afterburner.
ReplyDeleteNo citations, no money looks like tax rates going up
ReplyDeleteIf enough laws are changed because blacks can't follow them, at a certain point, we'll all be living in a libertarian's paradise.
