When at war it’s important to love what your enemy hates and hate what your enemy loves. Without that, you will not have the resolve to prosecute the war with the vigor it takes to win. Mercenaries are paid to fight for one side or another without having any particular ideology or passion for anything other than staying alive and cashing their checks. They’re not invested in the outcome, other than to survive the conflict. In victory, they merely prosper; in loss, they seek fortunes elsewhere.
