The American soldier who crossed into North Korea two months ago is in US custody, a senior Biden administration official told DailyMail.com on Wednesday.
Pvt. Travis King was transferred to US custody in China, after North Korea expelled him across their shared border, one US official told the AP. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss King's status.

Except he was a civilian when he crossed over. The Army had discharged him prior to escorting him to the airport. How he gets back to the US now is up to the State Department.
They don't discharge people overseas unless it's an Honorable discharge and at the soldier's request, in Germany we called it a European Out. Dishonorable, Bad Conduct and General discharges were done at out-processing stations back in the US.

They were (are) notorious for kidnapping people (mostly Japanese) into North Korea to teach foreign languages.
