One out of five electric car buyers return to gas-powered cars

A new study has revealed that one in five early adopters of electric vehicles are going back to using internal combustion engines leading to a fall in the price of electric vehicles (EVs).

  3. used to work with a guy who had a Toyota highlander EV or hybrid or something. anyway, he used to brag about how little he spent on gas every month for about a year or so, maybe 2.
but one day, he took it in and had to replace 2 of the 6 or 8 batteries. like 4 grand or so.
he sold it inside of 6 months ! he did the math on it and it cost him like 1200-1400 more per year to run the damn thing instead of just a plain old gas model.
I never did ask him how much he saved on his electric bill afterwards.
that is the big problem with EV. the batteries. just look at them in scrap yards. it is cheaper to buy a new one instead of replacing the batteries. dave in pa.

    1. And then there's this-
1- The initial cost of the vehicle.
2- The fact that you'll be replacing tires twice as often as you would if you were driving a conventional IC powered vehicle because of the sheer weight of a battery powered vehicle.
3- Don't overlook the fact that states will soon be adding a fee to your registration to make up for the fact that you pay no highway tax at the pump.

Feel free to add to my list if you'd like. These three things just came off the top of my head.

    2. @Elmo-
4- IC vehicles don't have batteries that short out and catch fire when submerged in salt water.
5- IC vehicles don't need an entire new drivetrain when involved in a fender-bender.
6- IC vehicles (depending on how you drive and maintenance you pull) can go an easy 250K miles without a major problem. ....Unless it's a Dodge Ram

My guess is that’s the same success rate as mental health experts get.

  5. In the state of Connecticut... service stations must have 50 feet of clearance on each side of an EV. For each and every EV on the lot. One wrecker op refuses to tow EVs for that purpose. To stay in biz, he would have to buy the adjacent properties.

  6. It'll soon be 2 out of 5. The damn libs are taking down a road that will be very hard to come back from. Leftist ideology will be the death of Western culture.
