The Rhodesian Bush War & Its Forgotten Foreign Fighters

The Rhodesian Bush War was an interesting conflict to say the least. Taking place in the backdrop of the Cold War, this complex war would have international support for both, the minority white government and for the majority black resistance movements. The complex nature of this war would increase following the arrival of foreign fighters for the Rhodesian government in the mid 1970s.

  2. They're the ones who kicked out all the white farmers and gave away the land. You can guess what happened.

  5. So in November of 82, I found myself in Harare Zimbabwe, providing security for Vice President George Bush. Brezhnev died and the KGB wouldn’t allow members of the technical security division of the United States secret service into Russia and us pigs in suits had to stay in country while bush when to the funeral.

  6. We had a good time, as I hooked up with the former RSM of the RAR and he took us on one of my greatest adventures while still in my early twenties. Demonstrated the abject failures of “communism” on a front row seat level. Master Sergeant President for Life Mugabe, oops, I mean Doctor Robert Mugabe was quite the cannibal, my apologies, character!

  7. I watched through the rest of my productive live as he destroyed the breadbasket of Africa solely to enrich himself and consolidate power. We did that, and we’ve done it to South Africa as well. If I didn’t know better, I’d think we changed sides after Vietnam. With only a brief reprieve while Reagan served.

  10. This is a vid from 1966 about what happens when blacks take over. This is a documentary and is savage as shit. Gruesome as hell. I'm surprised it's still on youtube. Them teens are 10 times worse than you think. Beyond stupid to boot. Unreal.

  14. After completing the SFQC at Ft Bragg back in 1989 I was able to finagle a slot to the US Army Military Free Fall course. One of the NCO’s in the course with me was from the newly forming 3rd SFG. He had been in the 82nd Airborne Regiment n the late 70’s and had been recruited as he ETSed into the Rhodesian Army. Charlie had several hundred Halo/Haho jumps with the Rhodesians SAS and had his MFF log book to prove it. Under the line for jump conditions it often stated heavy small arms fire and mortars. He eventually E&Eed into I think Tanzania at wars end/ collapse. Made his way back to the states and into the Army. Looked like an accountant or an English teacher except for his eyes. He was an unassuming dangerous man. That is all.

  16. “I read a book by an expatriate Rhodesian who visited Zimbabwe not too many years ago. Traveling with a companion, she stopped at a store along the highway. A black man materialized next to her car window. ‘Job, boss, (I) work good, boss,’ he pleaded. ‘You give job.’

“ ‘What happened to your old job?’ the expatriate white asked. The black man replied in the straightforward manner of his race: ‘We drove out the whites. No more jobs. You give job.’ “
