the last pup to do that was my old bubby Slim. I just felt sorry for his ass in a cage all alone. and he kept barking at me too. I think he knew before I did that he was going home with me. kind of weird too as we went there to get her a cat too. didn't get the cat, but a damn good dog. going on 2 years now and we still miss and talk about him. dave in pa.
When my daughter was about six we went to the SPCA. A sick looking dog curled up in a corner slowly got up and came to my daughter. Through the chain fence she gave my kid a lick and laid back down. The dogs one side was covered with mange. We later learned a chain had to be cut out of her neck. My kid said, I want this one. SPCA said the dog was not up for adoption and was being put down in a couple hours. Well, twenty-six or so years old and full of hell, I raised holy hell. We left with the dog and went straight to a Vet. My daughter would name her Daisy. Her picture still hangs in my fifty-two year old daughters home. Also, my daughter has always had a dog except between grieving periods. Me too. I'd rather be dead than not hang out with dogs. The pup in the above picture is precious.
Roger that. One of my dogs has those eyes too. I'm 72 and have a new dog that has me committed to living till 84ish, though, the way things are going, we may go down in a pile of hot brass in a year or three. We also have 3 other dogs, we like dogs more than people. Living in the sticks, dogs can end up being temporary family members. Lost one eight years ago to coyotes, a Jack Russell that clearly did not understand its place in the Great Pecking Order. Still miss and talk about her.
