The Gun Guys, Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn, have compiled a list of "The Shooter's Seven Sins." Many of them are things that all shooters are guilty of. Some are warnings against current trends. But be careful not to commit any of these 7 shooter's sins.

ReplyDeleteSo I don’t think Ken got his math right on IPSC scoring or USPSA scoring. An El Prez shot in four seconds with only eight hits is 40 points raw score. Each miss is a 10 point penalty. So deduct 40 point from 40 points. Zero. Divided by 4 seconds is zero. The two slower guys with all A zone hits beat the 4 second guy.

Bullshit. If you kill your neighbor’s 7 year-old daughter while stopping a looter, you created a whole new set of problems. Always be thinking “what’s beyond my target, what’s between my target, what’s beside my target.” Adjust your angles as appropriate.

ReplyDeleteas they taught us many years ago. be accurate first, then work on speed.
back then it was called quick kill or point shooting in the 1/503rd.
as with anything else, it always comes back to the basics. learn how to do that well and speed will come in time. I don't care how fast you may be if you don't hit the target.

and anything worth shooting once, should be shot again. kind of funny as I was shooting with my grandson and ended up showing a few 'younger guys" how to double tap a target. they seem amazed that a old guy with white hair can do that ,
