Great balls o' fire!

BURIEN, Wash. (KING) - A Washington state radio DJ and his family are traumatized after they narrowly escaped a fiery explosion while driving down the road in an incident that was caught on video.

John Richards, a radio DJ for KEXP’s morning show, and his 11-year-old son had just picked up his wife from the airport Friday and were driving home around 5:30 p.m. when an object that looked like a ball fell onto the road in Burien.

    1. The end of the story said two men were arrested elsewhere with similar bombs, but no pictures or descriptions. Curious that.

  2. Black powder I'm guessing, and probably an adolescent prank.
Cool to see shelves of LPs in the video.

  3. The fact that he gives Bugs Bunny kudos points for training him regarding bombs, is interesting...

  4. Most people just see this as a curious one-time thing, but I think about the past.
I came home from two years' duty overseas in spring 1967. In "The long hot summer of '67" there were 159 race riots with 85 dead, 2100 injured and 11,000 arrested. In 1970 there were 20 bombings in California. In 1972 there were over 1900 domestic bombings in the U.S.
Now, weeks before the election, we see someone trying out a home made bomb. Why?
Never mind. Nothing to see here. Move along.
