For some reason, that asshole dog Jack doesn't pop up as a popular name

These days, it’s hard to take your dog for a walk without hearing a fellow pup parent calling out certain popular names, like Max or Luna.

  1. well, I had a really good dog named Jack for 17 years. a true 20 dollar pound hound.
got him when my daughter was 2 I think. great watchdog. took me over 2 years to get another dog after him. but that one was kind of dumped on me. a red nose pit. another good dog but for his GAS problem. honest to GOD, the smell would run you out of the house ! me and the VET tried everything we could think of. nothing worked.
really great dog, everyone loved his ass until he started farting. dave in pa.

    2. coming home was the worse. he be jumping and acting the fool while farting his ass off. you open the door and gag on the smell. and truck rides ? always with the damn windows open ! even bought some fancy food stuff at 4-5 bucks a can to stop it.
dude was a great dog other than his farting, he was a big baby with bad gas.
he was best friends with the wife's cat too. dave in pa.

    3. Buddy had this little red nose that was the sweetest thing you could ever meet... Unfortunately her farts were so gassy they could peal the paint off the walls... Like you he tried all kinds of food to see if that was the issue, he came to the conclusion she was just a little stinker when she got excited.. He even changed her name to Stinky.

    1. Had an abandoned border collie that we named "mon back." Only dog I ever saw that was a fearless cat killer.

  5. Named my GSD pup Verner, Havoc of Grassy Fork. Call him Havoc, he may live up to it. Training him to be a dog of war, but he's kinda a momma's boy right now. Eod1sg Ret

  6. My kids always name the pets. We've got Speedy, and Sleepy, and Skip-to-my-loo, and Shevy. Unless he's run off to get into the neighbors trash, then he is Chevrolet Ford!

  7. I named my blonde pit 'Zsa Zsa.' Nobody under 40 gets it.

  8. I had a dog named Jack. A Black Lab 96 pound bundle of happy who would chase sticks, balls or 2x8's until I couldn't throw any more. Sadly he had to be put down at six years due to recurring cancer. One of the worst days of my life. I still have a picture of him here in the shop office with his big tongue hanging out after a long retrieval session and a happy look on his face. Damn I miss that dog. And every one of all the others that have gone on.

  9. My dad had a friend who raised Dachshunds. His champ was named Gustav von Beetlehausen. I don't remember what they called him. Maybe, "Gus".

  10. My two are Charlie and Oscar, named by my wife. I pointed out that she chose two letters of the ICAO Phonetic Alphabet. She said that wasn't one of her criteria.

When I was in the army in Germany, one of my friends had a dog named 'Private'. He used to get a kick out of yelling "C'mere, Private!" when walking the dog on the kaserne.

    1. That asshole dog Jack is a Pit/Catahoula mix, although more Pit than anything else. My biggest complaint with him is not only is he mouthy, but he's LOUD too.

  13. My favorite dog was a Doberman Great Dane cross. Looked like the worlds biggest Doberman. Great dog, good personality. Name? Emperor Maximilian III...of course we called him Max. HUGE dog, scared the hell out of everyone; cats too.

Currently taking care of the daughters toy poodle. Won't name it, it's a hateful little bitch that can't die soon enough. Won a lot of 4H trophies though. Most expensive dog ever for food and meds.

  14. We just learned an hour ago that our neighbors' big, beautiful GSD was struck and killed on the highway this morning after she hopped the fence to go exploring. Hurts like a bitch, for we loved that dog. RIP Mona.

  15. My grandfather had nine children and ran a cattle ranch and a road construction company. He didn't need complications. He had one dog at a time and always named it Duke.
