Matt Gaetz withdraws from consideration to be Trump's attorney general

Matt Gaetz has withdrawn as Donald Trump 's nominee for attorney general in a stunning reversal for the president-elect.

It followed a new allegation that the embattled Republican had a threesome that involved a minor.

The announcement came a day after the House Ethics Committee deadlocked on releasing a report into allegations of sexual misconduct and illegal drug use by Gaetz

  1. I guess there will always be the need for a special prosecutor.

  2. Unfortunate- based on the level of opposition, picking Gaetz seemed to be right on target- I hope the next nominee(s) elicit the same response- how about Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch? Sidney Powell?

    2. Rudy is past his prime- I read about his role in helping Trump investigate the 2020 election results- he was useless then- check out this book by Patrick Byrne, who was there-

A series of book excerpts is here (with Part 1 oddly missing)- a long read with lots of data, but worth it-

    1. While the baseless attack on Brent Kavanaugh was certainly designed to hurt him and his family, the true target of Sen. Feinstein was whoever the Republicans put forward in the future. Completely drag Kavanaugh through the mud with whatever made up stories you can; harass his wife and family at every turn; and the next person has to ask if they really want to put their family through that.

It's too bad that Gaetz withdrew his name, but I can understand it. It takes a special kind of exceptionally tough skin -- not just for the nominee, but for their entire family -- to weather such viciousness that the Democrats will bring.

The Democrats are not civilized. They are evil.

  5. Maybe not a lot more words,,
Gaetz withdrew shortly after CNN informed him it was reporting he allegedly had a threesome with a minor and an adult
    But there is that.

    Dammitall.

    1. Just like Brett Kavanaugh; throw baseless allegations and hope something sticks, except in Matt's case, all of it is coming from republicans.
Even the feckless fbi dropped it's investigation, you'd think the matter closed. But nope, the report was leaked out.
Matt made a lot of enemies in the r party for exposing how many of them got rich on illegal stock trades, now they're out for payback and dems are happy to watch r's once again eat their own.
Same old shit, different day, and I don't see how Trump, Elon or Bobby will ever fix that.

    2. Matt single-handedly took out Deep State buffoon Kevin McCarthy. For that I will forever be grateful.

The confrontation the two of them had during one of the votes for speaker was epic. I kind of wish they had gone at it so we could have seen McCarthy get his ass kicked.

  7. For Gaetz to roll over so quickly, hmmm...Is is true? If it some how did turn out to be true I don't see him being appointed to Rubio's seat. Keep in mind the source, CNN.

    1. yeah that he didn't put up a fight (that we know about) is troubling. I was really, really liking this nomination. But as some else said - maybe he can be Senator if Rubio gets confirmed?

    2. The question, Is it true? is predicated on Gaetz dropping out to protect himself, to avoid further inquisition to his own benefit.

Yet consider that he was selected to a team, a team which already has a plan. Team members are plug and play, used where and when to benefit the team.

What is, what look like, not same. The rail against Gaetz started a while ago. Could it be that Trump used that to his advantage? Perchance to uncover the RINOs or 2nd tier anti-Trump?

I don't know. But this isn't the end. Keep in mind, big dogs fighting for big bones. It shall prove interesting.

  8. Never seen Trump or Gaetz run away from a fight. They must have had the goods on Gaetz, doubt it's 5D chess but could be wrong.

    1. All this 5-D chess bullshit didn’t pan out last time.
“Guys the Kraken is gonna be released! White Hats are in control! The election is in the bag! Okay so he didn’t win the election but Article 69 says that he can use Manifest Destiny to not step down on January 20th!”
All those Q folks need/needed to read up on Operation Trust back during the Russian Revolution.

    2. Thanks, I got real tired of hearing that Chess/Checkers bullshit last time around.

  9. Gaetz is the first to fall, but not the last. I think Trump was tossing a Hail Mary when he nominated him. When you're dealing with an emotionally reacting electret you can't allow a very controversial person to fall flat before the congress who think only of the voter image of their reputations that generate votes and allow them to drink at the well of power and millions.

  10. He can run against Cornyn for the texas senate seat in 2026. If the sex allegations are true, he should fit right in.

  11. Allegations don't have a half-life when there are no credible evidence, police reports or grand jury indictments. The baseless allegations by the opposition are parroted by the legacy media, just as they carried water for Biden and Harris's lies.

  13. If cheeto Jesus puts a swamp critter up for nomination I'm done with him.
THE WHOLE POINT TO PUTTING GAETZ ON THE JOB WAS IT WOULD MAKE THEM ALL GO NUTS!
They'll do the same thing w/ the next option, until they get a swamp critter!
Should make the next appointment even worse....

    ReplyDelete
  14. The left will view this as a win...and use the same tactic on all of Trump's picks. The facts don't matter. The allegations are often enough. And framing someone is something the left is good at.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In theory, the left can use this ploy against EVERY cabinet nominee. After all, when a woman says "He did this to me," the guy is guilty until he proves himself innocent, which is almost IMPOSSIBLE when she says this...

  16. So, Trump hasn't even been inaugurated and the Demonrats claim their first scalp. Fucking pitiful. I thought both Trump and Gaetz had more balls.

This does not bode well for the rest of Trump's administration and agenda.

I am thoroughly disappointed with both of them.

  17. He was complains about. That. I just do not want anyone whom the DOJ approves like Barr back in that spot. Janet Reno ruining the DOJ and until they are abolished nothing will fix it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He talked to Senators and the R's who always vote with the D's told him that he won't get their vote, so it's better to walk away then have the MSM crowing about Trump losing support.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep. 100% of Demonrat senators would vote against him, and enough RINOs like Cornyn, Murkowski, Collins, Romney, etc., that there was no chance of his getting confirmed. The Republicans would need their own (RINO-less) secret intelligence service to have enough dirt on those RINOs and and/or a few Democrats to get him through.

    2. ^^^ Yes! Do it. And let the RINOs howl.

  22. While I like Gaetz I don't expect him to be squeaky clean just because he's a Republican!

  23. MTG has threatened to put out info on all of the payoffs Congress did to hush up accusations of sexual abuse and harassment. That would be awesome and send the swamp critters scurrying for cover. Definitely should put Gaetz in Little Marco's Senate seat as a big FU to the RINOs.

    1. Don't threaten. Do. The left laughs at threats because so far all of the GOP's threats have been hollow gum smacking.

  24. Trump has nominated former Fla AG Pam Bondi to replace Gaetz.
I think it was planned from the start. Nominate a highly contentious lightning rod, let the wailing and gnashing of teeth begin, gather intel on traitors and other problems.
Have Gaetz withdraw so he "won't be a distraction", nominate the person Trump actually wants.
After the inauguration put Gaetz in a job that doesn't require Senate confirmation but is just as dangerous to the swamp as the AG.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pam Bondi, former prosecutor and FL AG, was announced as next pick. The Gaetz pick may have gotten the reaction Trump was looking for - self identifying problems within the GOP.

I rather doubt DeSantis will pick Gaetz to follow Rubio. Lara Trump has been mentioned.

  26. It looks like the new nominee for AG is Pam Bondi. She was the AG here in Florida from 2011 to 2019 and was one of Trump’s lawyers during his impeachment. Solid call.
