(The Center Square) – A Congressional watchdog says it is again unable to determine if the federal government's financial statements are reliable.
The federal government reported net costs of $7.4 trillion in fiscal year 2024, but it couldn't fully account for its spending. The U.S. Government Accountability Office, which is Congress's research arm, said that the federal government must address "serious deficiencies" in federal financial management and correct course on its "unsustainable" long-term fiscal path.
Simple solution. Withhold any further funding for any agency that cannot balance their books.
ReplyDeleteI think we should still pay the troops.
DeleteToward the end of my Navical career, I had a mere $350,00/year TAD travel budget to manage.
DeleteI vividly recall every ass-chewing I got when the books didn't balance.
Guess things have changed since 1990...
Is there not a Law which states the penalties for financial fraud? If they don't know where the money is, let them stay in prison until they do remember.
ReplyDeleteWhy should Big Sister's checkbook balance and be any more accurate than all the other economic agitprop numbers she puts out.
ReplyDeleteBeware, DOGE is upside down. They're looking for "waste" "fraud" "abuse". Hey, dummies! We're BROKE. We're broker than broke. You need to cut about $3 Trillion in spending. Don't waste time asking questions. You need to cut cut cut cut cut big time right now. Like Javier Milei with the chainsaw in Argentina. Cut now, ask questions later, yes, there will be pain and there will be cleanup, but this trillion per year in interest on the debt is just plain immoral and unsupportable. Worse yet, Mr. Trump himself now wants Congress to increase the debt ceiling some more.
ReplyDeletePREDICTION: DOGE will cut about $900 billion and proclaim victory.
ANALYSIS: We are so screwed!
ReplyDeleteWe still have a high speed rail to build!!!!
