  2. Reference #19, right off the top of my head and in no particular order of radar-gun Gestapo tactics severity because they all suck:
    Estelline, Texas
    Hugo, Colorado
    Roland and Sallisaw, Oklahoma
    Pine Prairie, Louisiana
    South Hutchinson, Kansas

Especially that sawed off little twerp in Hugo who threatened to arrest me a few years ago for three MPH over the speed limit, certified according to his radar.

    1. Damn straight. Got caught on one of those in East Texas, been driving for 28 hrs straight and in a 2 mile stretch on hwy 59 there were 4 speed limit changes. Got me for 10 over and then made me do the sobriety walk. I told him I was tired and both legs were asleep from sitting so long. He dicked me around for another 30 minutes and then let me go with a $400 ticket.

    2. Living in Texas, I had to at least look up Esteline: Estelline is a town located in Hall County, Texas, United States. The population at the 2020 census was 121. In 2012, Estelline was ranked #1 in a National Motorists Association listing of its "Worst Speed Trap Cities" in North America.

      Good call, H.

Looked up the others. The only one not likely to be in my area of travel is S. Hutchinson, KS. So SH can KS my AS. ;-)

    3. #19 used to be VERY indicative of Mack's Creek, MO. The town apparently received 95% of its revenue from traffic stops. They had 4 officers on duty for a 1 mile stretch of road. If, due to the slowdown from 65 to 25 in less than 1/4 mile, your tire TOUCHED the outer white line or the center yellow line you were ticketed for reckless driving and given a field sobriety test. The State of MO FINALLY did an audit and the mayor and sheriff both disappeared, along with several million dollars from the treasury. MO has since changed laws to prohibit towns from collecting more than, IIRC, 25% revenue from traffic stops.

    4. An old cop acquaintance of mine one day arrived at coffee break laughing his ass off. A traffic cop that was despised equally by the public and his fellow officers alike had the previous evening, pulled over a vehicle for 6kmh over the posted limit (Canada, if you haven't noticed.) As the constable was writing up the ticket, the driver asked three times, "Are you certain you wish to write that ticket?" to which he replied the standard blah, blah.
The cop reported/whined/complained/snivelled that the $75 fine he issued was nothing compared to when the Occupational Safety Officer donned his hi-vis and pulled out HIS ticket book for several safety violations including: no hi-vis worn while outside vehicle after sundown, failure to initiate correct hazard/safety lamps, and a few more I am unable to recall............ the constable's fines were in the several hundreds. The blokes at the barracks were elated because that meant he would be transferred soon.

    5. The city of Waldo, Florida, used to be a major speed trap. Kind of. Big signs saying "Speed Strickly Enforced" and plenty of distance between changing speed limit signs and with markings on the roads saying "SLOW DOWN."

Yet people still got clocked doing over 20mph faster than posted speed.

And, of course, the jackwagons who complained said stupid shit like "They pull me over every time. I've got 8 speeding tickets through Waldo."

Not a speed trap at all. No matter what anyone said and says.

Now, Bunnell, FL, yeah, they had a State Road that joined another State Road right in the middle of the town. Speed limit on the first SR was 55mph. First speed limit sign you'd see on the other SR after joining it would be 45mph, posted about a mile away. Now the speed limit on the second SR was 35mph in the area where the first SR joined, cleary marked if you're on the second SR coming to the intersection. Now that's a speed trap.

    6. Minden Nevada. They'll cite you for doing 26 in a 25, even when your brake lights are on. They do ask of you're a local. Locals pay a nuisance fee. Out of towners get hit with a hefty fine.

    7. But have any of them had the state governor erect a billboard outside of the town warning people of the speedtrap and clip joints ahead like Ludowici GA?

  3. I try to do most of my long distance travelling on interstates. my last garmin would chime when the speed limit reduced. So far haven't figured out if the google maps on my phone will do the same thing

  4. Rome, Ohio used to be a bad one. The General Assembly finally got tired of the complaints and repealed their charter.

  5. #19 Ferguson, Mo., was an infamous speed trap before it got notorious for its “gentle giant.”

  6. Driving west from the Mass line toward Hartford Connecticut on I84 is basically a 75, 80mph zone on a 65 MPH posted road, if you’ve got a Connecticut plate. If you’re from anywhere else you will be stopped. Small states are like small towns I guess.

  7. I knew a guy that got pulled over in some town in the Texas Panhandle. When he called about paying the fine, he was told $175. But, if he paid an additional "convenience fee", then they would not report the ticket to the state.

  9. AOC sat down in an outhouse. A nickel rolled out of her pocket into a hole in the floor. AOC stood up, threw the rest of her money, her phone, and her car keys into the outhouse hole. The lady sitting next to her asked why she did that. AOC replied "you think I'm going down there for a nickel?"
