I have 4 Great Pyrenees and a bunch of goats. They are phenomenal dogs, unlike any other. My neighbor has 50 acres covered in game cams and says he never sees anything enter from our farm (except sometimes our dogs). I have a deer fence around the orchard, but I don't need it anymore. We don't even lose our free range chickens to predators (though we still lose some).

ReplyDeleteProve me wrong!
The dog in the picture is a Great Pyrenees...
DeletePyrenees doing what a Pyrenees do.
DeleteNo, it’s an English cream retriever. I’ve had a couple of them.
DeleteCute picture but I hope they have a plan to bottle feed it now. Does are not fond of dog smells on their fawns.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not. I've also seen stories were the doe sees the dog as a guardian and even comes back the following year w/ a new fawn.

Our great pyrenees collected a fawn. We had to bring the pyr inside so the fawn could wander back to mom.

Herding instinct kicking in.
ReplyDeleteKnew of a farmer who started raising goats. He was losing them all too often. He bought 2 Great Pyrenees. NEVER LOST ANOTHER GOAT.
ReplyDeleteGreat dogs.
