My shootin' room

Yeah, I got this fucking tiny breakfast nook off of my kitchen that's been used as a plant room (not those kind) and a storage room. I can honestly say in the 14 years I've lived here, I have never ate a meal or had a cup of coffee here.
A buddy of mine turned me onto a springer not too long ago after his boy shot and killed the family cat with it (it was either the rifle or the boy and I don't tolerate no kids that have no gun sense so I took the rifle) but it's illegal to discharge any type of firearm in city limits and that springer is a lot louder than I thought - think 22 short as far as noise goes.
But then I got to thinking - I got a table and bench in a room that I don't use with a window facing 75 feet of backyard and no full time old lady to object....... You know what's coming, huh?
And here's the view from the bench to the 50' target....

From the target....... photo was zoomed in.
A little closer view......
Of course I have to remember to bring this silly son-of-a-bitch in before I commence to shooting......
Wouldn't want to be accidentially headshooting my wolfdog, ya know.

I can even shoot at night with my spotlight trained on the target......

Seriously, I can crank up Hank III or Waylon or Patsy, crack open a beer and shoot all night long. The house contains the noise of the springer and the newspapers behind the target muffle the WHAP of the pellet hitting the backboard.
Fuck, I'm in redneckin' heaven. Eat your heart out, Derek!

And I seriously want to thank drjim from Every Blade Of Grass for donating the scope. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was in need of one and within a couple of days he had sent me one and above my objections, refused payment. He's good people.

  2. Remind me to post the story of the time I was passing through Berkely, got caught in a protest and my partner burned a magazine over their heads to clear the road.

  4. Got a good group Jim, but had to leave before I can get some serious adjustment to bring her into zero. I'll get it in tomorrow.
    Again, my heartfelt gratitude.
You're good people. Anything I can ever do for you, just holler.

  6. How's that rifle cock? Does the barrel swing down? I had a buddy who had a decent one, but it was an "air rifle" and you had to pump it up. I could never get more than 4 pumps in it, but my friend lifted weights, and he could get seven pumps in it.
Sounded like a 30-30 when it went off!

  7. Jim, barrel swings down and I got 1200 fps on each cock. I love that fucker. Different pellets have different impacts and I'm still trying to get that straight but with a sober mind it shouldn't take long.

  8. D, I'm glad I did have him cut. He's hard enough for me to handle otherwise.
Seriously, he's so protective it ain't funny when it comes to his property and me WHEN I'M HERE but otherwise he loves kids and other dogs any other time.
We went to the dog park today and he played with all the other dogs and a lady brought her toddler in and the first thing CGD did was run up and lick him.
He's such a great dog.... Really I have no fear with him concerning other people or dog as long as he isn't on his turf.
    I couldn't ask for a better companion.

  9. Yeah, but I still remember when you first got him, and how he got his name!

  10. COOL BRO, I'm glad that CGD can interact with folks, that's the right thing... a mean dog can get you payin for shit...A dog with sense is almost eerie, they can relate like a human. They really can sense what to do, uncanny really....Then they eat a turd...

  11. Sorry, I've got nothing on the gun stuff unless you start talking pellet and BB gun. But the dog....I love CGD! Is he looking for a cute, short, furry, blond sweetie that eats out of a football and can impersonate the Tasmanian devil? (I don't mean me, either).

  12. Hey Ken, if you can come across enough scratch, get yourself a Benjamin Maurauder .22 cal air rifle. It has an air chamber you pump up to 3K with either a hand pump or a dive tank. Thats what I use.

With a good scope my granddaughter, 15 years old, can kill a Comorant at about 50 to 60 yards with one shot! This sucker is heavy through. With the scope it weighs in about the same as an M1, so I had to get some front legs for it.

If you only lived closer I'd bring it over for a test run but 3015 miles is a bit too far for poor old me!!

Love this blog and check it 2 or 3 times a day.

    FUCK OBAMA!!!!!!

In my tricked out 1022 they are way quieter than my pellet gun. I have been known to sit at the kitchen table with the back door open and dispatch a few winged rats (starlings) off the back fence.
