Got this tip as an anonymous comment on one of my posts today.

Yreka -- YREKA – A Yreka man was apprehended Nov. 1 after he allegedly discharged a firearm in a negligent manner and barricaded himself into his Kings Court home when officers attempted to make contact with him, stated a press release issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

William Fletcher, 59, was booked into the Siskiyou County jail on $15,000 bail on charges of discharging a firearm with gross negligence, obstructing/resisting executive officers in performance of firearm with gross negligence, obstructing/resisting executive officers in performance of their duties and exhibiting or using a firearm.

The incident began at about 2:30 p.m. when SCSO deputies responded to Kings Court upon receiving a report that a male was discharging a firearm.
When deputies arrived, Fletcher was reportedly outside and in possession of a firearm. He allegedly made several threats to deputies. Then he allegedly went into his house and barricaded himself in, stated the release.

SCSO detectives were joined by personnel from the Yreka Police Department, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), United States Forest Service and California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Fletcher allegedly continued to wield a firearm while making threats to deputies and officers, the release stated.

A CHP officer made verbal contact with Fletcher and continued to talk him out of the house where he was arrested without incident.

Pursuant to a search warrant, the property was searched. Multiple firearms, a large amount of ammunition and marijuana were seized from Fetcher's property.

"We would like to commend the CHP officer for making verbal contact with Mr. Fletcher and performing an exemplarity job in talking him out of his residence and resolving what could have been a fatal incident," the release concluded.
