Bear Camp

Wirecutter,
Attached photo was sent to me by one of my old hunting buddies in PA. I x'd out the name of the hunting camp so they won't have the PETA freaks fucking up their hunt next year. He took it with his phone so the clarity isn't that great.

  5. For some reason it reminds me of that ride/attraction at Disney World with the bears playing in a jug band, but in a good way!

  7. Educate me please...
I've no problem with anyone hunting for food (roast or curried Bambi, nomnomnom..) or for the protection of humans & livestock (coyotes & other predators).

Do bears fall into either of these categories? Or is this purely a trophy hunt, winner takes home a new rug - which I have never agreed with, unless you're living the wilderness lifestyle and really really need that rug.

Not after a major argument here, just my tuppence worth of opinion and a polite request for information.

  10. For Bryn, and Corey.

Bear meat, especially those hunted in the fall, is delicious. Some say that it tastes like pork, but I think that it has it's own individual taste.

And as I stated above, the fat rendered down into lard makes the absolute best pie crust that there is!

And naw, this was not a trophy hunt, there are all sizes of bears hanging there.

Like Brock said, "Look at all that meat".

    1. I'd like to qualify that a bit Bob. Up here in Alaska we like the spring bear. Even at that the meat is variable . The fall bears eat salmon and the meat stinks. Also loaded with tapeworm they pick up from the salmon. I would agree however bears from the lower 48 are good. Had a Montana bear and it was fine. AE
