Wirecutter's Shoe Porn

Had to down and buy me some fucking work boots today. The old ones still had another 6 months to a year in them but they're insulated and damn, I didn't want to go through another 100+ degree summer in them. And yes, that's 550 cord for laces - best laces in the world, you wear the boots out before they break.

THE OLD

THE NEW

You'll have to excuse CharlieGodammit the Attention Whore.

  1. And you'll wear them until they flap when you walk... *sigh*

  2. Yup, even when they leak from the bottom up.
Thankee, thankee. Now I got my old boots for the winter and my new ones for the summer.

  3. Oh oh. Slip ons, huh. Well I guess we all have to accept our limitations as we age! ;)

  4. I'll bet the first few times you slip them on you'll still reach down for the laces!

  5. I just got new workboots this week too. I hate breaking new ones in, but my old ones were too far gone. A week of walking funny and sore feet.

  6. Darn, I was hoping to see your hairy legs modeling them. Very nice boots.

  7. Ironmonkey - And that's why I bought them the first day of my vacation. I can break them in before they hurt my feet at work.

  8. I had to get new work shoes last week. Mine were so bad the entire heel had tore loose from the upper and my heel was hanging out.
I have to have steel toes also at work.
I got a pair of steel toed Romeo's. They slip on and don't weigh five fucking pounds apiece like the last pair of boots did.
They are the way to go.

  9. Yeah, I generally wear steel toes even when I don't have to. They're great in an asskick.

  10. Fucking sweet!

    Those look like Redwings.
I'm getting mine re-soled this year. A damn fine pair of boots, once you break them in.
