WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama rebuked his Afghanistan war commander for "poor judgment" Tuesday and considered whether to fire him in the most extraordinary airing of military-civilian tensions since Harry Truman stripped Gen. Douglas MacArthur of his command a half century ago.
The White House summoned Gen. Stanley McChrystal to Washington to explain disparaging comments about his commander in chief and Obama's top aides. The meeting set for Wednesday was a last-ditch moment for the general once considered the war's brightest hope.
If not insubordination, the remarks in a forthcoming Rolling Stone magazine article were at least an indirect challenge to civilian management of the war in Washington by its top military commander.
"I think it's clear that the article in which he and his team appeared showed a poor — showed poor judgment," the president said, surrounded by members of his Cabinet at the close of their meeting. "But I also want to make sure that I talk to him directly before I make any final decisions."
Look what happened to Korea when Truman sacked McArthur. I see a lot of comparisons being made to the similarities between Truman/McArthur and obama/McChristal.

Truman was actually a pretty good president. Not great, but O.K. We all assume Truman was right and McArthur was wrong, but McArthur would have won the war and probably destroyed red china in the process. Remember the chinese Nationalists would more than likely have moved on Mao's army after they had been weakened and defeated by McArthur.
By the way, I notice when you say Fuck obama you give him the courtesy of capitalization of the o in his last name. I can't bring myself to do that. To your credit, you did capitalize Fuck.

Yeah, I know about the capitalization trip. If you notice though, I capitalize a lot of the first letters ofthe words in my title. Besides, Mama was an english freak and it's just habit for me to capitalize names. Blame her, not me.
ReplyDeleteBut you may have noticed that I refuse to capitalize the word "President" when I myself am writing about him. I refuse to recognize a non-citizen as President of the United States, and I've heard a lot more evidence against him being a citizen than I have otherwise.
BTW, my word verification is charade. Coincidence? I think not. Even Windows 7 hates that motherfucker.
