Can someone please explain to me, what this new law means? (I'm from Canada) I really don't understand what the hell they're doing? I mean that in a good way.
Bella, the AZ law states that non-federal law enforcement officials in AZ will check the citizenship and immigrationship status of anyone they suspect may be in the country illegally after contacting them in relation to another law enforcement action, such as arrest or a traffic stop.
Arizona is having a hell of a crime problem due to illegals (Phoenix is the #2 city in the world for kidnappings) and most of it is due to illegals, drug cartels spilling over from Mexico, etc. They're just tired of it and since our Federal Government refuses to do anything about it, they've decided that they will. Please note DaddyBear's comment where he says "after contacting them in relation to another law enforcement action" which means there's not going to be a sweep of brown skinned folks to check their status despite what media hysteria says. If you'd like, contact me via email (k59lane@yahoo.com) and I can send you some links as well as a copy of the legislation.

ReplyDeleteSame thing as Federal law, only AZ is telling the Fed that they are not inforcing it so they will.
