Looks more like a lingcod to me. I got one when salmon trolling once that was well over 50lbs and had a mouth on it like a bucket. It stretched the springs on the main line at least a foot and the old man started jumping up and down because he thought I'd let too many stops out and was skipping the lead off the bottom.
It's a Musky Ed. I boat about 6-12 legals per year. This is a very nice one. I shamelessly stole the photo from Wirecutter and sent a copy to a buddy who comes every year to fish for Muskie with me. Told him he's getting his ass kicked by someone. Anyway, having one of these on, or even just following your lure, makes you a Musky hunter for life. I like the hand landing too. I hand land all mine and release them all.
Toothy critter!
ReplyDeleteAnd the fish is scary, too!
Man that's one old gal who is game for fun. I'd never hug that fish. I'll bet she was as much of a blast in her youth as she seems to be right now.
ReplyDeleteBis ass musky. God love her. Grabbin' life by the nutz.
