OH GOD NO!!!!!

Might want to get your fill of ham this year, because "a world shortage of pork and bacon next year is now unavoidable," according to an industry trade group.

Blame the drought conditions that blazed through the corn and soybean crop this year. Less feed led to herds declining across the European Union “at a significant rate,” according to the National Pig Assn. in Britain.

And the trend “is being mirrored around the world,” according to a release (hat tip to the Financial Times).

    Craig has got it right. There are many stories about lack of feed.. and not a mention of government mandated and heavily subsidized biofuels. Follow the money. THat's where the feed went.

    Hmmm, the corn fields of Ohio looked pretty healthy to me, and my lady's back yard is a couple square miles of corn fields. To many ppl forget about man made irrigation .............

    Angrymike, the corn in Texas is fried. Oklahoma was on fire when I flew over last month. Kansas was crispy brown. Hundreds of thousands of acres of dead corn I saw. Most farmers don't use irrigation. Something to think about...
