Mom came over this afternoon for a visit and ended up staying for about 3 hours. It was nice, just a visit with no real purpose for the first time since Pops died back in August.
She's doing a lot better than I expected but she is lonely - understandable, this is the longest she's been without Pops since he got back from Vietnam the last time back in 1970, but today she laughed more than I've seen in a long time.
Hell, I enjoyed our visit myself. I must be getting soft in my old age.
Been there, done that, for as long as I could until Mom left too. Enjoy every minute with her as you can .......making memories that will last your lifetime.
ReplyDeleteNo, not soft; Human.
ReplyDeleteIt's both our greatest blessing and our greatest curse.
It's important that we don't lose it in the coming struggle.
:-)
ReplyDeleteI'd give anything for a couple hours with my mom-she's been gone for almost 20 years, my best friend-I envy you and God bless her.
ReplyDeleteMM
Sounds great! I had some of the best laughs, just hanging out with my mom. Cherish, my friend.
ReplyDeleteLaughter is a good thing, as is reminiscing. It heals the spirit. Enjoy your Sunday....

I think I'll go pick up my 91 year old Mom and bring her to my house for the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a damned good idea, Johnboy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure she enjoys visiting with Miss Lisa!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how they rebound, but make sure you stay in contact as much as possible, she needs you......
ReplyDeleteHey I posted a young wirecutter @ CGD today, have a look, you'll probably steal it..........;)
I'm glad she's doing better. It's been tough watching my Dad outlive two wives.
ReplyDeleteHe can still laugh, still enjoys a beer and openly flirts with the girls at the grocery, so he's good, even at 93.
