Cops Should Enforce the Law, Not the Whims of Politicians

The author says the police officer should modify or outright ignore those commands the officer think are onerous. Notice the author is retired from the force. I might bet that the author, when he was on the force did in fact act on some of those same kinds of commands. Because as often is, their cry is it is the administration which is the problem, we're only the rank and file. I wonder how this author would have written this story if he were still on the force.
Not a damn thing they could say would alleviate them from the blame of perpetuating an authoritarian state. Least of all, their desire for their pensions or taking care of their families.
