It Begins – East and West Coast Blue States Team Up To Begin Economic Civil War

It seemed clear several weeks ago this was going to happen. East coast blue state governors and West coast blue state governors are uniting to begin the economic civil war planning to block any White House effort to re-open the U.S. economy. The founders planned for this in Article I, Sec 10 (paragraph 3):

  1. That Article 1 Sec 10 clause will only apply if the "compact" challenges state power. The Supreme Court held "in its 1893 decision in Virginia v. Tennessee, the Supreme Court held that a compact concerning the adjustment of state boundary lines did not require Congressional consent, and more broadly, that Congress's approval was necessary only for compacts that would increase the power of states at the expense of the federal government.[1]

The Constitution is silent on the required timing for Congressional consent, so consent may be given either before or after the states have agreed to a particular compact. The consent may be explicit, but it may also be inferred from circumstances. Congress may also impose conditions as part of its approval of a compact"

So don't count on the court challenge being a slam dunk. I would not count on the Pelosi House voting against the compact either.

  2. FWIW, I heard the opposite.

That said, they may think they're a Nation State, but Trump is the one with the Army.

  4. All Trump needs to do to get his way is express the opposite. If he had said lets open things up, these same states would be balking left and right about him overstepping his authority and they were going to stay locked down until hell freezes over just for spite.

In this case he wants to see things start to open back up so he says he's the only one that can make that decision and the stupid Dems and Rinos will fall all over themselves to open things up to prove they're in control, not Trump. He gets what he wants and suffers none of the blowback if things go upside down after the states reopen.

At least that's how I'm thinking right now. I, of course, reserve the right to be wrong once again.

  5. Another Trump plus - if governors decide to go against the opening, Trump says 'Fine - Now YOUR state's economy is YOUR responsibility.' Once they realize they have no cover, they will fold quickly.

Say what you will about Trump, if its U.S. economic, he is way ahead of the curve of the vast majority. Compare to Biden - Who would you want to be responsible for getting us back on track ? Even brain dead have to realize Biden would not be able to get it back on track.
