Trump’s Coronavirus Failure Is a Gift to the NRA

It seemed, for a time, that the National Rifle Association’s unprecedented investment in Donald Trump might have purchased the kind of misfortune experienced by so many previous Trump investors. The arrival of a pandemic seems to have changed all that.

Consider where the NRA was just a few months ago. After spending more than $30 million to help make Trump president, the organization was caught up in a parallel Russia scandal when it was revealed that it had been actively courting agents of Russian President Vladimir Putin while also being infiltrated by a young Russian woman who promoted herself as a gun activist and took detailed direction from a close ally of the Kremlin. There was also a series of ugly financial scandals, highlighting how NRA leader Wayne LaPierre and others lavish benefits on themselves, and bitter infighting. Lawsuits, countersuits, layoffs and financial shortfalls ensued.

  1. Well, that's a good example of a bullshit story by the totally unbiased media. I'm so disgusted by this hoax that my new goal is to stay off social media for the week. Fingers crossed...

    1. I spent the 40 days of Lent, off of Facebook. A very good decision on my part. Now that I am back on....I'm having the old symptoms of anxiety, anger at family idjits and general disgust with my fellow man. I'm thinking it's time to detox completely and spend more time in the woodworking shop/garage.

    2. good luck on staying off social media... 5 years ago I quit "checking Facebook" - I visit twice a year, on Christmas to send the Christmas message from Grandpa to family and friends, and then again on my birthday to reply to their greetings so they know I'm not dead. Any more time than that is a waste. Hell, I didn't like the folks in high school when I was IN high school...

  2. Paulie should be a model for everyone. UNPLUG YOUR BRAIN AND USE IT FOR A CHANGE!

NRA= A bad joke. Save your money for an organization that actually protects your 2nd ammendment rights.

  3. The NRA gets both too much blame and too much credit....I am not a member, and none of my decisions on weaponry were based on anything the NRA peddled....Americans don't need the NRA to tell them....we are born with that instinct....it's in our DNA....

  4. I STILL won't give the NRA anything. When the stories about the largess being ladles out LaPierre and the rest of his cohorts made the news a few years ago, it cemented my disgust for the organization. The disgust was earned by their CONSTANT, over many years, capitulation to the anti-gun lobbies at state and national levels. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

  5. Fuck the NRA, and I say that as a Life Member.
I retain my membership because the only real metric the lying newsmedia can understand is NRA membership numbers. But NRA really really needs to clean house. As with other members, I get regular emails and physical mailers whining for money. I must be important because Wayne LaPierre calls me "Michael" when he writes. Who knew we were on a first-name basis?

My buddy Wayne sent me a long email and I felt it would be impolite to not respond. Therefore:
    Wayne,
Not one dime to the NRA while you are still an executive of that organization. You are worse than the gun-grabbing Left, you are (in my opinion) an overpaid, expense-account abusing, traitorous grifter.
    Cordially,
    Michael

  6. I joined the NRA when Obama was elected president. I got angry with them, and left after a few years. I joined again, a couple of years ago. I just thought that instead of bitching about how bad they are, it would be best to try and make a difference from the inside.
I also am a member of my state gun rights group.

  7. Gee, a Bloomberg "Executive editor of the Week" write a piece slamming two of his Boss' favorite targets.

    What a load of shit.

Why even give the linked site the click numbers.
